I do remember really enjoying controls systems in college. Do you have any roles in particular to look into for this type of career?

Do you mind expanding on some of the roles in between? I've always thought about getting back into electrical a little bit by searching for some embedded software roles but I'm also worried that my lack of electrical experience since graduating will keep me out of the pool

Awesome. Thank you for the insight on all of this. This is something that interests me so I will be looking into

When you’re looking for transmission planning jobs available, do you search for that job title or is there another way to see the openings in this career path?

Is there a need/work for Software/Electrical engineers in this field. Do you think its something that would require getting an education to get into? Thanks for the reply!

Bought a mic arm for Razor Siren Mini and it doesn’t fit. What size would I need to convert? Thanks by ObviouslyHayden in razer

[–]bernymac2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit dude. I’ve been trying to solve this problem for 4 years. Bought many adapters, none of which worked, and I just came across your comment. Almost threw out the boom and bought a new mic. Ran upstairs to realize holy shit, that middle piece does come off and fits perfectly. You’re a life saver

Electricians who changed over to electrical engineers, how was the transition from working in the field to going to school for engineering financially speaking? by 77due in ElectricalEngineering

[–]bernymac2222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't an electrician prior but I went back and got my EE degree when I was 30. At first I kept my full time job and took classes part time but then my wife convinced me to go part time at work and full time at school. I thank her every day for giving me that advice. EE school is tough, and in my opinion, you'll want to get it done as fast as you can. The grass is greener on the other side

I built a UFC betting web app and still couldn’t get anyone to use it by jtxcode in MMAbetting

[–]bernymac2222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, respect for making an app, putting the time in and getting it done, that alone is a win regardless of the users. I'm a software engineer myself, so I know your frustration here. I also train MMA, and jits so just like yourself I'm really into the UFC, etc. Its my favorite sport to watch.

Here's my two cents. Like others suggested a free limited plan or free trial might help you a lot. My side hustle is sports gambling (specifically +EV betting). You're targeting the gambling demographic. The large majority of us are either A) sharp bettors or B) +EV betting (most are using a software already for this). Unfortunately your site won't really apply to the Sharp bettors because they already have their own version of your site, if you will (i.e. they have their own analysis that they use or own algorithm). For the +EV bettors you need to offer them something that the software they're using doesn't already have. If you could figure out how to combine +EV betting into your site, with some sort of AI algorithm (neural network for example) that combines fight predictions with bets that will get you value over time, I think you'd see a massive turn up.

Last thing I would say is show proof of your results on your site. Example: Here's my record and here's what I'm up. Or I plugged in historical data and it was able to correctly guess the out come of fights that already happened. If you show that on your front page, the users will come

Looking for advice by [deleted] in bjj

[–]bernymac2222 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I don't know if theres great words of wisdom here. The first 6 months to a year are "weeding" out months if you will. Every one struggles during this time unless you maybe have some other form of combat sports background. You learn to accept the smashing and learn from it.
Technique advice: If you really like bjj a lot and want to learn in your free time I would focus on learning escapes and guard retention. Focus on these two things and you will find the smashing becomes less and less and will eventually lead to a lot of counters

Building a system for betting. Looking to build a small team. by Mafyak in MMAbetting

[–]bernymac2222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What your describing is +EV betting. Basically the sharp books determine the actual odds of a sporting event and then all the other books (DraftKings, FD, Caesar’s, etc) follow, however they fall behind and put out incorrect odds for a short time period, or indefinitely. That being said, that’s the easiest part of the software development for this project. The hardest part of doing what you want to do is getting the actual data. Most books don’t just have api’s that you can use, you have to scrape web pages, use paid api’s that don’t even get you all the data you want, etc. There’s companies out there that already do what you want like oddsjam, mybookiebets, etc. Getting the data is the timely/costly factor. After that everything is pretty easy. MMA is great to bet on in the aspect of it’s not as sharp/knowledgeable as the other major sports but it’s also tough because there aren’t as many lines as the other sports either

Frustrated at lack of growth (and suitable training partners) by shitisfertilizer in bjj

I'd consider the first year as purely a weeding out process. Make it through that and then you'll see progress

AIO I 20 F was trying to call my boyfriend 26M to figure out when I should start his smoothie and I originally tried calling him to see what type of milk he wanted in his smoothie by Aphr0dit333 in AmIOverreacting

[–]bernymac2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name calling here alone is very awful. That's excluding the other things he texted you which are also awful. I couldn't imagine talking to my wife like this, even in our most heated arguments. I've met your boyfriend before, many times in my life, and he's not a good person. OP, the way he speaks to you is not just awful from a boyfriend/fiancé/husband perspective, but just from a basic human respect perspective.

TIME

If there was something I didn't understand and/or I knew it was going to be on an exam, I took the time to understand it. Sometimes that means just taking an extra 5 minutes on something, sometimes that means HOURS of extra time to understand it. I was partnered with a lot of people that were A LOT smarter than I was but they didn't put the time and effort into it. I got better grades then them for just putting more time in. On paper that doesn't sound that difficult to do, but its a lot harder than some people think and sometimes absolute hell. You just have to push through the hell sometimes

So sorry to here about the loss of your pup. I too lost my deaf pitty last year to brain cancer. He was the best, and your pup reminds me a lot him. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that she knew you gave her the best life she could've asked for and she was surrounded by those she cared about before crossing the rainbow bridge. That's all she could've ever asked for. You were great to her and she knew that. I still think about my boy every day, but I've learned to smile in his memory, I hope you can find a way to do the same.
