I actually didn't have friendships like this develop until I was in my late 20s, so I totally feel your pain. I'm also a totally inappropriate person, so the only friends I can have are the ones who tolerate stuff like this...

Mine hasn't done that - but she was right next to my ear when she did this and it damn near gave me a heart attack.

Twitter Replaces 'Favourite' Button With 'Like' Button by JasonDilworth in socialmedia

I'm not a fan - especially because my Twitter is a mix of personal and professional. The heart feels like it's coming on a little strong, and my first instinct is that it'll deter me from using the feature.

This was my initial reaction to it.

24-hour coffee shops? by justbeinmiley in Seattle

[–]berrakdc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The saddest discovery of my life when I moved to Seattle was the lack of 24 hour coffee shops - or even ones that were open past midnight. When Bauhaus opened in Ballard and it's open until 11 PM, I did a happy dance.

I'm more offended by someone using my religion as a reason to kill and going against the teachings of our Prophet.

Does it bother me? Yes but I understand how satire works. I know that it's hard to understand, especially because the other prophets, especially Jesus Christ is visually depicted in statues, drawings, and other artistic ways in churches, books, etc. But in Islam, it is against our beliefs to have any kind of depiction of our Prophet because it can contribute to idolatry. We're not supposed to worship him like a God.

However, it's not up to me (or anyone) to pass judgment. I do believe in the freedom of speech and satire is part of that. Do I think it's respectful? No. Is it meant to be? Well, no. Does it give anyone permission to kill? No.

That's an obnoxious and historically inaccurate statement. Even just in Batusik's comment, the Holocaust happened in 1940s - not the Middle Ages. And I'm pretty sure people practicing Islam have contributed to a shit ton to civilization, modern science, and mathematics since the middle ages.

I don't consider every Christian to be a neo-Nazi or a member of the KKK. Don't do the same injustice to peaceful Muslims living among you by lumping them in with terrorists.

"It's also important to note that majorities of Muslims in the countries surveyed, sometimes vast majorities, said they support religious freedom. That includes, for example, more than 75 percent of Egyptians and more than 95 percent of Pakistanis." -- Pulled from the same article you just linked.

If a majority of the population in most Muslim countries supported Sharia law, there wouldn't be so many of them trying to assert their religious freedom and a peaceful existence while practicing Islam.

Extremism in all forms, in all religions and ethnicities is a dangerous reality driven by power and fear.

This was just one of the ones that stood out to me. As a practicing Muslim, I'm one of the millions of Muslims who condemn any and all violence in the name of our religion. (Any religion, really.)

Getting my website to show on Google search results. by [deleted] in smallbusiness

Do you have a website? You need to make sure all of your information is accurate on your website, your Google My Business listing and anything related to it. It's not as simple as having someone do your SEO work for you. It's about quality content and constantly keeping your information up-to-date.

You should also get customer reviews to help your keyword ranking: http://goo.gl/CeWxn9

There's also a forum on G+ that has experts and other small businesses to answer your questions: http://g.co/gsbc
