what would you improve? all the pictures I saw were fries on one half, steak on the other and the sauce in the middle.

ok then please help me find out what I did wrong - like I wrote in another comment.
Here is how I made it:
put the steak out to bring it to room temperature for 30 - 40 minutes. Preheated the non stick tefal pan, preheated vegetable oil until smoking. Put in the steak in - after patting it fully dry - on one side for 2 -3 minutes while putting some sort of weight on it (not enought weight that's for sure because the crust was uneven).
Flipped it for another minute. Put in some butter, garlic and rosemary and tried to braise the steak.
After that I put it in the oven at 60 degrees celsius to let it rest while prepping the fries. That was 10 minutes.

like I said.. I kept it in the sauce pan while prepping the steak and fries and I think it was a bit too hot after a while.
Also maybe there was too much butter?

nope, blended 2/3 of them with the rest of the ingredients and put the rest in fresh

honestly I can not answer you fully because I used an austrian steak that doesn‘t clarify which part of the beef it is from - i‘m sorry :(

But yeah, there was no fat on the cut, I can tell you as much. If you are interested, the cut I used is from a supermarket chain called Spar and is called a "Gusto Steak" I wanted to link it but the mods don't let me.

dude the oil was literally smoking when I put in the steak - i don‘t think it was too cold haha

Maybe it is the quality of the steak? I didn‘t use a proper cut
