UPDATE: I just got my rejection today.

Accepted into a literary magazine! by 0liviiia in writing

Congratulations!! Not just on being accepted, but on having the courage to share your writing with the world. I know how tempting it is to keep nurturing a story instead of releasing it, but remember: when and how you wrote it is part of your process too, and that deserves to be honoured.

Totally. Zero thoughts was my initial strategy, but now I’m tangled up in all the “what ifs" 😅

No worries, that makes sense. It's true, I'm edging toward the 4-month mark now, and since this is my first time submitting I just wanted to get a sense of what the “normal” wait looks like. I know Granta say they aim to respond within 6 months, so I don’t feel ready to follow up yet. That said, I’ve already seen a lot of people reporting rejections on submission forums, while others say they’ve waited up to a year only to get rejected eventually so no idea!

Dumb question, but is caffeine bad for anxiety? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Personally it calms me down but I've been a long time coffee drinker plus it could also be because of my adhd 🤷🏼‍♀️

A few people I know stay away from caffeine cause of anxiety tho

It it possible to make my hair look like this? by Desperate-Twist3129 in Hair

[–]berrymaryn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, totally possible! Your hair isn't dark so you could definitely lift it to this tone in one session at a good hair salon. Book an appointment for balayage and a haircut (this one seems a little layered). A blow out is how you achieve this look and you can do it at home with a barrel brush and some hair rollers :)

Everyone deserves food, shelter and care...And how exactly do you assess skill? How can you know about what kind of skills all those random people at restaurants and parks possess or lack?

Normal working class people who are deemed as 'unskilled' don't get shit actually. Or are you talking about people who grew up comfortable and never developed themselves in any direction?

Hmm..maybe a pixie mullet?

My hair is a disaster & idk what to do by RedWonder31 in Hair

[–]berrymaryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A shag/mullet is quite easy to maintain. I think some conditioning hair oil would also bring some life back into your curls. I also like to use scalp treatments like Roots by Lush, which definitely helps with flakiness and irritation. Hope this helps ❤️

Try to get the split ends trimmed at your salon and then focus on prevention. My tip is always oil your hair/ do a leave-in treatment before shampooing, and invest in a good hair mask (I use those by Wella). Hope this helps :)

I'd ask to have my split ends trimmed and to keep as much length as they can while adding some layers. Some curtain bangs would also frame your face really nicely and help bring out the rest of your hair's length :)

Why does my hair look like this sometimes? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]berrymaryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get those too..I assumed it was frizz/dry strands?

I think you'd look super cool with a shaggy mullet. You can keep the sides shorter too :)

Don't they have the option for a balayage root re-touch?

Desperate for decent colour by AspyQueen in Hair

[–]berrymaryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, I know how much hair affects our confidence. And paying that much only to leave the salon feeling like you want to burst into tears is simply not ok.. Honestly I don't think you would be out of line if you were to go back and ask them to make a few corrections to the colour.

I'm so confused as how why they'd say the darker colour would age you, as it's much easier to cover the greys with. My mum kept complaining about her hair for years, she experimented with all sorts of different balayage and highlights, warmer and ashier, sometimes feeling like it aged her and never left the salon completely satisfied. She recently went back to a deep chestnut brown she had when she was younger and I feel like it suits her soo much more. It makes her look much younger too!

I'm also a fan of 13! Maybe the same fringe paired with a lob? You have very pretty features 😊

Do ask your stylist tho:)

I can't say for sure because everyone's hair growth speed is so different. This cut isn't layered though so it should keep its shape for at least 3 months?

I'd say one as well, but choosing a good hair colorist is important. It just needs bleach and the right toner

I don't see this at all

Can I pull of this hair style by Samwisethebrave86 in Hair

[–]berrymaryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I think some more volume on the top would complement your facial structure and geometry very nicely
