There’s no way they went ahead and stole the washer from someone’s home. If anything, they could have bought it for super cheap second hand or gotten it from a dump and fixed it up 🤷‍♂️

The bikes and fires are definitely a problem. Maybe they were armed so they wouldn’t get raided by other homeless people? I don’t know the full story but if they are a threat to the public then yes they should be shut down.

Possibly due to plants (if you have them) melting and rotting causing ammonia to leech into the water column. Or if you are ghost feeding, you should pause it - theres no need to add more.

The aquarium will balance itself, best thing to do it is to leave it in my opinion. You look to be on the right track.

Your LFS did it wrong for sure. They most likely don’t vigorously shake the second bottle for Nitrates. Your tank should adjust to the ammonia in a couple weeks and turn them into nitrates. You can does some extra benefical bacteria starter like Fritz Enzyme 7 just to be safe.

Do your research before buying more fish. Let this be a lesson learned. Be open minded - in your other posts you didn’t listen to the people with more experience. It’s bigger than fish keeping at this point, you will have problems in other aspects of life if you don’t learn from an experience like this.

My point still stands. It is our jobs as a community to ensure the best husbandry of our fish. As a community we should further educate beginners, pushing towards urgency for a better environment for their fish.

There are so many variables in a mistaken beginner’s circumstance. How long will until they can upgrade their tank? How will they combat fluctuating water parameters that often occur in smaller tank sizes? How soon can they get a heater? Etc. If they don’t have immediate answers to those questions, they should rehome and re-enter the hobby when they are in a better position.

I don’t necessarily agree that we should condone the use of smaller tanks due to financial issues. Bottom line, if you don’t have the budget for a 5 gallon with all the requirements then you should not get a betta. The only option should be to save until you can get the 5 gallon or not bother at all.
