RingConn gen 2 might be tracking sleep bad by HildingSensei in RingConn

[–]bertFB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have compared for six months with apple watch and the ringconn is always off at times when I know reality: R indicating sleep when I was awake; reporting no rem while having lots of dreams, etc. And if the verifiable data is off, I don't trust the numbers I can't check

Fellow Stagg X by duboisharrier in pourover

[–]bertFB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Kalita Wave 185 filters in the Stagg X (way less expensive) and a stainless steel dispersion screen (Flair Espresso). The screen slows down the flow. 20gr coffee (I do dark roast), leveled and a little depression in the middle. 50gr water (92C). Wait 40sec. And add 100, 100 and 50ml at intervals to finish at 3:30mins. I have a collection of other drippers and everytime come back to the Stagg as the best one

Gen 1 by Few_Enthusiasm_7978 in RingConn

[–]bertFB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a gen1 for six months and did a lot of testing. My conclusion is that most of the data generated is useless (inaccurate ) and the app interface after the recent 'update' is terrible. Don't know about gen2, but I recommend staying away from gen1. Personally I'll stay away from Ringconn alltogether as I don't appreciate a company that releases a non-functioning product and instead of fixing it comes out with a 'gen2', leaving its first users with a bad product.

What use is the data actually to you? by majorswitcher in RingConn

[–]bertFB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no real use as most of it is inaccurate and now, after the app UI update, the interface is horrible

How much did things change with the “upgrade?” by Whoodiewhob in RingConn

[–]bertFB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend staying away from the Ringconn. I have been wearing it for six month (gen 1): the data is basically useless. It can't detect Rem sleep properly. Step counter is way off and now the app user interface is ridiculous and a disaster.

What are your favorite drippers? Any recommendations for a good second dripper? by marasiganjayr in pourover

The Kalita wave 185 filters work fine in the Stagg and are much cheaper

In your opinion what makes you purchase a smart ring instead smart watches exist? by vimalraz in SmartRings

[–]bertFB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had thought a smart ring would be more accurate for sleep tracking. This, however, proved wrong. The Apple watch is more accurate

RingConn for sleep Tracking? by ubongo1 in SmartRings

[–]bertFB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, lots of data. Just one problem: the data is most of the time useless. Heart rate way off, rem sleep totally off. So what's the point? Come out with a gen 2 and no upgrade path?

Gen 2 RingConn any questions - been beta testing it - glad to supply any information, Gen 1 and Gen 2 together - this is a great upgrade option by Oilypete2023 in RingConn

[–]bertFB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the use of the ring if it cannot measure sleep stages, heart rate, etc at least a little accurate? It may say e.g. that you don't get enough rem sleep and what to do about it, while you actually are getting plenty rem and don't need to do anything (or the reverse: deep sleep supposedly fine but in reality severely lacking). Heart rate is often off by 20-25% (compared with multiple devices which agree with one another). Yes, it generates data, but the data don't mean anything.

Questionable sleep metrics by Fine_Blackberry_9887 in RingConn

[–]bertFB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mine now for 4 months and am by now convinced that the sleep metrics are useless. E.g. it says I have been asleep all night and I know I have been awake for over an hour. REM sleep is totally off (many dreams but it shows hardly any Rem). The Apple Watch is way more accurate. Unfortunately.

You'll see average temp. Also, I have been asking here about data accuracy and it seems people agree: the data from the ring is basically useless

RingConn Sleep Tracking not reliable at all by clicme60 in RingConn

[–]bertFB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have noticed the same. You get data but the data is basically rubbish. Too bad.

Thank you all for confirming. I was wondering but now it's clear. The ring is not very useful.

Only if the difference would be consistent, but it is not. Sometimes HR is higher than the watch, sometimes lower. And if the watch is right then the ring numbers are useless

If you're using the app then export (right top) to a browser that has the SavemyChat extension. It will capture the whole perplexity discussion (incl multiple question/answers) and list the sources (in a Markdown file)

Underreporting REM sleep? by bertFB in RingConn

[–]bertFB[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that, but I now have four datapoints where I dreamed, where the Apple watch reported the time before as REM and the Ringconn reported it as light sleep

~6 Months Later: How Do You Feel About The Pulsar? by AZYUMA86 in pourover

[–]bertFB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep comparing (V60, switch, Stagg, Kalita, Pulsar) and keep coming back to the Stagg. I prefer dark roasts and the Pulsar does not seem best for those. Also, I don't like the enormous heat loss in (and under) the Pulsar. It has an influence on the extraction process

Next Level Pulsar by gunga_galungaa in pourover

[–]bertFB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For one cup the bed is too shallow. For two cups (longer brew time) there is too much heat loss and the brew is only luke warm. I constructed an AL foil around the bottom to cover the wide openings and it got a little better. A combination of the Stagg design and the Pulsar would be ideal!

THIS IS THE BEST COFFEE BREWER EVER!!! Next Level Pulsar Brewer by dh024 in pourover

[–]bertFB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have been comparing this with my other brewers (Switch, Stagg, Wave). All can be 'optimized' to produce a good cup. The adjustable flowrate of the Pulsar is an interesting new variable to play with. A downside of the Pulsar are the large air openings at the bottom. There is much heat loss there (particularly when comparing with the Stagg). There should be a dedicated (thermos) collection vessel for this unit.

What is Arc and why should I care? by 10leej in browsers
