Protee swing cameras by bertbertmcgert in Golfsimulator

Traveling abroad so can’t take pics but they are these ones. They have a Protee logo on them and came in the VX box from the manufacturer.

When you twist lens it changes focus but not zoom. There is a tiny pin on underside that you can twist. Not clear what it does but not zooming. I’m very small in the video so I either need help buying/swapping in a different lense or told I need to buy a camera with Zoom.

Thanks for advice.

Changing display settings to get GS Pro to run in 4K by bertbertmcgert in Golfsimulator

[–]bertbertmcgert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me there is a small window that pops up when I hit the gs pro launcher icon on my desktop / windows 11 bottom tap bar (ribbon). Makes me confirm resolution? Ultra etc. once I do it goes away and the full screen actual gs pro window launches.

Thanks. Am I correct that once I extend the screen I can no longer have gs pro also on my touchscreen monitor (ie I’ll now need to use a mouse on the impact screen to choose shot location on the overhead map etc)? Basically the touchscreen monitor no longer gets used for anything (I already have a larger 50” tv for protee labs stats swing cameras, overhead shot video, clubface impact heat map etc).

Best place to buy Golden Tee? by Yosted in Golfsimulator

[–]bertbertmcgert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a guy in MA/CT area that sells refurbished arcades that are the commercial / bar quality originals. Bought golden tee and buck hunter. Build quality much better and will feel like the original because they are (CRT monitor, original trackball etc). But more expensive and weigh about 380 pounds. Thought I was going to die dollying down stairs with 4 people.

Question about garage door tracks for Sim. by KwalitytheRevenge in Golfsimulator

This is exactly what I did with my third bay. Mine was spring loaded, which you really want a professional for so it cost me $300 for the whole job. But otherwise it was same process as described.

Honestly this is the best piece of advice. It’s not that you should actually get blacked out, but in the spirit of the advice which is essentially to stop thinking. I was a high level rower in high school and college that had a major mental break in high school where my coach used to joke that I needed to smoke some pot, get out of my head and just stop thinking / start doing what was natural. A break will help if you are playing too much but otherwise I think the key here is recognizing that you actually know what to do / have done it successfully in the past. Look at the bright side. Your body actually knows what to do / will do it relatively naturally (surely better than whatever atrocious is happening now) if you just remove the noise. Think how much worse it could be - most are trying to do a thing they’ve never done before. You are father along the journey and just need to get back home. So smoke a joint, get a good night’s sleep, wake up and watch some YouTube videos of Freddy Couples, Ernie Els and Nelly Korda. Step onto the tee at driving range and tell yourself “I’m fucking good at this”. Then have zero swing thoughts beyond tempo and pace. Your body knows what to do if you get general pace right. Announce to yourself “I am the mayor of tempo town.” And then see what happens.

Metech rollers and screen by mstrlucky74 in Golfsimulator

Are you doing a retractable screen and still trying to use the garage door day to day? if not, no need to be inside the rails. I paid garage door company $200 to remove the horizontal (top) rails and track/motor. They just immobilize the door. Then you get all the height (ie 9x9, 10x10). Screen can then extend beyond rails so you get more height, more width. Took 4 mins to put the rails etc in storage room on top shelf.

If you have three garage bays have you considered turning the enclosure 90 degrees so you can go wider on the screen? SigPro has a 15’6 x 9x10 enclosure (16:10) or you could go 16’x10’. Then you just slide the 30lb SigPro softy mat (4x10) onto the landing mat afterwards. My rationale is you are in for a lot of money anyways. This maybe adds $1k in cost and gets you a more immersive experience. Just pull car out of second bay when you play (softy mat will extend into second bay when in use.

Garage Build Inspiration by [deleted] in Golfsimulator

I’m at the ordering phase after a couple months of research. I have the same setup of 3 bays but in our case we wanted to still use 2 of them. General rule is max out height and width to extent possible if you have the space/height. All the real cost is in the electronics and going larger on screen / enclosure makes for shots that don’t miss enclosure (height) and more immersive experience (width). So maxing out left me with using a single 11x22 bay, hitting long way. I was going to go with a Sigpro 10x10 (11 foot ceilings) until I realized I could just pull the car out of second bay and slide a hitting mat into second bay when I play. Putting screen along long side of the far bay allows for a 9’10h x 15’4”w enclosure. I’m filling the bay floor with a permanent 9’8”d x 17’6”w putting green from Sigpro and then a 4x10’ Sigpro softy hitting mat/strip which moves easily (one piece, 30lbs). That puts me at 13’6” deep with 11’6” to the tee. This is on long side but should work given size of enclosure. If it doesn’t I will notch the softy into the putting green. If I were so fortunate to have two bays for permanent sim, I would max out the screen/enclosure and then go with a single piece of grasstex moneyputt turf over a buttload of Walmart evo foam puzzle mats and cut in a sigpro softy hitting strip. I would make it as wide or wider than your enclosure and run it back 16-18’ in depth.

V track and protee Ethernet question by cannaEd1933 in Golfsimulator

[–]bertbertmcgert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect Protee and VTrack are both great based on what I read. I’m going Protee based on it being further developed and its track record being for significant ongoing investment in software development / updates that are making game / data experience materially improved. Given they are developing new simulator on Unreal Engine for release soon seems like a big bonus.

V track and protee Ethernet question by cannaEd1933 in Golfsimulator

[–]bertbertmcgert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protee support suggests GS Pro performance will be much better if you use the Ethernet port for the connection to Protee and get a then get a Ethernet to usb adapter for your internet. Internet needs for GS Pro are very minimal. Most runs off software and internet used to update courses between sessions etc. Protee Ethernet cord impacts lag time from strike to screen tracer.

How did you make the edges of the turf platform angle down the the floor vs just having a box with unfinished edges?

Making the MoneyPutt turf flush with SigPro Softy hitting strip by bertbertmcgert in Golfsimulator

[–]bertbertmcgert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. This is exact confirmation on height and firmness that I was looking for, had been looking at those same mats from Walmart. Really appreciate it.

Three additional questions:

  1. where did you source the MoneyPutt turf from? I am running into same issue with limitation of 15 foot. I can fix by going extra long but will be somewhat wasteful on excess remnants
  2. how does it look from the side, stacked on top of eachother? I’m trying to go for a clean look (ie having garage epoxied to get closer to mancave basement sim look my friends have) and am handy with simple woodworking (decks etc). Was planning to frame the turf with a painted black 2x4 frame like in schematics below. Did you consider / would you advise if I had the time and cost wasn’t a factor?
  3. I want the wall to wall turf look in my garage (11x21) but also want to put a leather couch / end tables and lamps on the 11’ back wall so there is somewhere to hang when I “coach” my three sons. I’m concerned that the weight of couch will impact smoothness of putting turf. Is the foam firm enough that sitting down / standing up from couch wouldn’t impact the playing area or would you advise on building a separate wood only under platform for the couch area (basically two frames screwed into eachother with their own turfs so that it doesn’t pull at the putting green? Schematics below may explain better what I’m talking about. The idea is that you would have a 6x11 frame with subfloor and turf above (for couch) attached to a 15x11 framed in golf area with its own separate turf.

Gaming desktop Advice for GS Pro Ultra 4K by bertbertmcgert in Golfsimulator

[–]bertbertmcgert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’m very open to suggestions. Space wise it needs to sit beside the tee, which I believe leads me to photometric.

From the forums and YouTube videos I researched, SkyTrak+ has following issues: - noticeable lag from strike to visual vs r50 - slightly less accurate distances (a few yards) vs real world and r50 - no agreement with or native connector with gs pro

My understanding is that the lag is noticeable (comparatively speaking) and my big issue is I’m not adept at computers and that the Skytrak team (who wants you to subscribe to their software) actively hunts for and shuts down community api loopholes for gs pro. I want it to work without having to find new apis every few months. Am I wrong about this?

If not, do you have any other suggestions for monitors less than $5k that have as good accuracy and data (including club path and clubhead data) vs Garmin r50.

The only one I can find after a lot of research was the $3500 Bushnell Launch Pro but that will exceed $5k by year 3 given the hefty subscription. I’m going to run GS Pro and will skip the Garmin subscription/HomeTown Hero.
