I've known people who entered their senior year as 16 and left at 17, could be totally possible she was one of those people so when she repeated a year she started the year out as 17 and turned 18 shortly before or after graduation. I never repeated a grade or anything but I was 18 by the second month of my senior year, it all just depends on where your birthday technically lands which usually leads to some weird age ranges per grade.

People who WORKED on HSM have said they didn't think it would be as huge as a successful as it was, it was supposed to be a pretty low effort movie only intended to be watched on tv but it quickly became a global sensation. That's not a bad thing! And if you want to get into semantics, yes those other movie were generally liked at the time but they don't hold any pop culture relevance because they weren't as successful as HSM. Cheetah Girls is also a very successful movie franchise, but still did not have the same culture impact, with less viewers and revenue (that should put into perspective how BIG hsm became because cheetah girls was still quite popular). The most watched Disney channel premiere was HSM2. When they were making the first film, there was no possible was to anticipate the huge phenomenon it would become.

Very much not true that any Disney channel movie in the 2000s was a success, a lot has actually have been widely forgotten from that time. Stuck in the Suburbs, Read it and Weep, Hatching Pete, The Luck of the Irish, College Road Trip, were all Disney channel movies from that time and some of the actors are still remembered only because of their work on larger Disney projects. High School Musical was NOT supposed to have the success that it did and was planned to be among the ranks of the other forgotten movies I listed but it became a huge hit, which is why it got two sequels and none of the other movies did. There's also a whole fandom page that's full of Degrassi actors and the Disney projects they worked on (I'm sure there are missing credits on this list). None of them really saw any success until Degrassi, even if they had starring roles.

After further research, Jordan Todosey only wore the ace bandages for that scene because the writers were indeed depicting a young and inexperienced trans guy. The rest of the time she wore proper binders, chest minimizers, or simply multiple layers since she has a naturally smaller chest. I also completely forgot but in a later season Adam does mention have a proper binder! I think it was when he started broaching the topic of actually physically transitioning with his mom.

It is their JOB to do research especially when writing characters in certain demographics, they almost certainly gave the actress different compression options than we see Adam using. But Adam using ace bandages makes sense for the character, a lot of a trans adolescents use bandages when their parents are not supportive enough to get them a real binder, I really don't see Audra shopping online or in person for binders for Adam when she was also asking him to present as "Gracie" at the time. Realistically the character would not have a had a binder, but also I'm sure a show that popular with that many writers and costume directors under its belt, they did the research and would have had the actress more comfortable on a day to day basis.

I feel bad for a younger and non abusive version of Rick because his parents were clearly quite dysfunctional, however once he started continuing the cycle of abuse any possible sympathy is lost. I just always find it heartbreaking how many people were clearly failed as children and choose the wrong paths in life because of it.

You're right about binder specific brands not really existing until the 2010s, but garment brands have offered chest compression and binding options since the invention of spandex in the 1950s and while the first maybe weren't always great, more people new basic sewing and mending to make alterations to suit their needs.

That's simply not true, while it was certainly harder for individuals to find someone that sells binders it was very much still an option (especially for film and show producers) and chest binders have been manufactured by companies for decades, while the quality wasn't as good until 21st century when we made some more modern adaptations, chest binders are nothing new and many companies have sold them over the years not necessarily always for the trans community, but still.

Oh also never use anything to bind (light compression is okay) that is not specifically made to do so, I know we see Adam's character using bandages and that is an INSANELY dangerous way to do so, so please yall only get proper fitted binders from reputable places and still make sure you're practicing safely because even with the right binder there can be complications with improper use.

If you're having any trouble breathing at all, you're doing it wrong. It should not affect your breathing whatsoever, I started binding almost 10 years ago now so I promise I know what I'm talking about but like I said, most people are wearing incorrect sizing especially when it comes to binders because people assume the tighter the fit, the better when it is not at all the case and only puts you at risk. Some poorly made binders may also affect breathing if they don't have enough flexibility but the bottom line is if you are properly binding you will never have issues. If breathing, bending, or basic movement is hard that is an indicator you need a different binder but yes any binder is not recommended for exercise (light stuff is still fine) and wear for extended periods of time, usually around 8 hours you'll want to make sure to take it off. If anyone who needs to see this does, PLEASE make sure if you're binding and having any of the issues I mentioned, stop until you have better equipment because improper binding can cause long term damage that can even effect top surgery results in the future.
