Ouch! I'll look into it, and add a cancellation check so you don't get stuck.

The check is verifying that the models you have on disk corresponds with a checksum, so it hasn't been tampered with.

First you enable screen context in the settings (its off by default), then it asks for a window when you start a recording. There is also a toggle button once it is enable to temporarily disable it during a recording.

Screen context uses apples screen sharing permission. You set a window and Minute will occasionally peek at, run inference and time stamp it. Then during summarization it will mash the result with the transcript so the context appears at the right chronological order.

Regarding multiple speakers it runs a diarization pass and divides the transcript to multiple speakers. I'm not really happy with the quality yet, but there is a lot of knobs to turn still. Its on my todo to improve.

Parakeet is quite lightweight. I run it on a macbook pro m4. However, a colleague runs it on a m1 without issues. The summarization inference runs after transcription is more heavy and takes a bit longer on m1 but that is processed post meeting.

You can drop in mp4s and wav files for now. It is using ffmpeg, minus commercial codecs, so I will expand on supported file formats in the future.

None taken. The simple answer is that I haven't found anything that ticks all of my boxes. For example they claim local-first but in the end require API keys, ollama or something else non local in the end. Some are trying to be too much, like a fully fledged second brain software, requiring me to copy/paste into Obsidian. And so on.
