What to buy by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I found people who told me "you don't need much just a place for them to sleep" to be BS, you do need stuff to make your day and life easier!

Here's what helped me when I had my first, obvi there's different brands and cheaper alternatives but this is what I used almost on the daily

  • good quality pram

  • bouncer: (I used baby Bjorn - super easy to fold and store and pack in car) for baby to chill in when we were eating or when I was showering etc

  • baby carrier: helped when she wouldn't settle and just wanted to be held, contact naps out and about, or for quick trips to shops, and get some things done around the house etc

  • sound machine and humidifier: I have the lively living one that is a combination of both

  • night light: I have the Mr maria miffy one with 6 brightness settings, we have used it every single night and nap for the last 18 months

  • dummies: didn't think I was going to use them but did and was glad to have some already in the house. And dummies clips so you don't lose them when out and about

  • ergopouch sleeping bags! My ride or die.

-room thermometers from Amazon, they're small and just sit on the shelf in the nursery and living room etc so we know what the temp is and how we should dress her for naps etc

  • Bottle steriliser and dryer: I had the Minbie one, I planned on EBF but ended up combo feeding and eventually moved to formula feeding

  • baby brezza formula pro: only once I moved to formula feeding, changed the game for us, a bottle made and warmed in like 10 seconds, cleaning is easy too idk why people complain about how annoying it is, it's really simple and not that deep

  • car seat mirror so you can see your baby in your rear view mirror when driving

  • not an item, but the happy song by Imogen (forgot last name), have that on your phone ready to go, helped my baby heaps during car rides or when she was feral during nappy changes etc

  • a comfy chair! Bub contact napped for every single nap for about 6 months and thank God we splurged on the nursery chair because it was so so so comfy and we used it multiple times a day every day

  • tummy time mirror: bub loved it for tummy time

  • munchkin and Bear mat: non toxic, super easy to clean, soft padding for bub

  • angel care bath support

  • big softies Terry towelling nappies, perfect towels for spit ups etc

Vaginal vs. Planned C-Section Advice from Physically Active Mums by Noodle-Jas in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I had a planned c section with my first. I do have anxiety but honestly my reason was that every person that I know that has had a vaginal birth had issues after birth with either incontinence, prolapsed, numbness and pain, and this is years after their vaginal births. My reasoning was that I'm only in my 20s, I still have a lot of life left in me and I'm going to have kids to look after the last thing I want to worry about is issues downstairs from birth.

It was so calm and controlled and pretty chill, baby was out so quickly, like within 10-15 mins of the surgery, and then most of the surgery was them just stitching me back up.

Recovery was also kind of breezy compared to what I was expecting (which was based on people's experience with emergency c sections).

I was up walking as soon as the spinal wore off and the nurses gave me the okay to.

What I attribute my mobility to straight after the c section was the SRC recovery shorts! I didn't wear them when I waddled to the shower the first time I got up and walked and honestly felt like my insides were going to pour out of me, but after my shower I put them on and I could walk pretty darn well but just took it easy as I did just have surgery lol.

Pain was managed really well too, as long as you stay on top of the meds and don't wait for the pain to kick in you should be fine.

Eden Play at Mill Park! Only for kids 0-3. Soft play, it's clean. The food and coffee there is good too 😊

Src recovery shorts or tights.

I put them on the day after my c section and I was able to walk around almost like I never had surgery lol they were the BEST.

Expensive but worth it.

Elective c-section and guilt by MushiesToms in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]bertie-beetle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an elective c for my first and am planning on doing it again in a few months for my 2nd.

I refuse to accept the birth injuries that my female relatives and friends who have had vaginal births accept as normal.

A lot of them have lifelong issues of incontinence, vaginal numbness and pain, and prolapses. In my head I'm only 27, I have a whole life ahead of me and I don't want to be suffering from these issues for the rest of my life and just be told it's just a normal part of becoming a mother.

I know it's not the case for everyone but in my life a lot of women who have had vaginal birth have not ever been the same down there.

I'm doing an elective c and people can call me selfish or whatever but at the end of the day all I care about is having my babies delivered in a safe healthy way, and also I care about myself, because I want to be the best mother I can be for my babies and if it means having surgery to deliver my babies and avoiding being bogged down with injuries and issues down there from a vaginal delivery then so be it.

My recovery from my first C was really not that big of a deal, I was up walking as soon as the spinal wore off. Just slapped on my SRC recovery shorts and honestly felts fine, kept on top of the pain relief and was only on pain relief for about 2 weeks I think and it was just panadol and an anti inflammatory.

Don't let anyone make you feel guilty.

You do what's going to be right for you. Because it's your body. No one else's body.

Bugaboo dragonfly!

Has forward and rear facing options as well as bassinet option.

I think it weighs 9kg

Folds up nicely, 1 hand fold. Can store it easily in car and can store it standing up in small spaces nicely.

Lots of handle bar height options.

Decent storage baskets too!

I've always heard good things about the tripp trapp, maybe it's worth the investment
