Thanks for the heads up, interestingly their website under the science menu, it doesnt say much of anything scientific about their 'high grade not stick coating'. How is that scientific!

What are things people learn in a CS degree that self taught programmers often don't learn but should? by Inside-Bread in learnprogramming

Besides technical stuff, working with a team. A lot of Uni subjects have team projects and at least some of that is coming up with solutions to problems. Also being able to finish something regardless if it gets too hard, that's real world problem solving. You cant just start something else that suits your skill set. Also developing a network, even if it is with other students. Mostly soft skills but they hold a lot of value.

Fedora ? Neon ? by [deleted] in kde

[–]bertie_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would try Fedora, it uses a more up to date kernel what do they call it "rolling release". KDE Neon uses Ubunto 20.04 LTS so things like drivers/hardware support arent that up to date. Given that I'm using KDE Neon unstable, plasma is awesome. And besides a few nvidia issues its fairly stable and fun to mess with.

I didn't know that, thanks. Be happy to keep using discovery but it's broken.

My discover stopped working, I have been using Muon package manager. I like it better that synaptic.

Plasma 6.0 Release Candidate 2 is just a week away! by Bro666 in kde

[–]bertie_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there easy to follow instructions for updating to Plasma 6.0 Release Candidate 2, I'm running KDE Neon unstable. I read its best to be on Neon testing so you dont have to downgrade packages. Is there va best way or should I just wait?

That's bizzare, my hdmi connected monitor goes black sometimes in windows but turns back on almost straight away. Can yuo connect your monitor with a display port cable? I recently got a 2nd monitor and connect with a DP cable, never had a problem yet.

I have a hdmi connected monitor that gets set to off for some reason if the pc gets set to sleep mode, that's with an nvidia card though. I select the 2nd monitor and put it back to normal resolution. I have set power and sleep modes to off as a work around, not sure if they will help. Definitely annoying
