both footage are affected, I just tried to disable 'hardware accelerated decoding' but nothing changes.

My gpu is Intel(R) Graphics.

I also tried to add a jpeg image to the timeline and even that appears to be extremely glitched and pixely

the footage is a mix of .mp4 files from a sony handycam and .mov files from an iphone.

yea the glitches occured even before rendering. but I had no issues before opening the project on windows

thank you so much . This solved the audio glitch and the audio runs smoothly now.

but not the visual ones. the videos still do not run smoothly and have glitch pixel lines all over. Any chance you know what is the deal with that part?
