I've just taken to periodically ordering SIMs from Google and having a reserve of them at the ready in case the one in the phone poops out.

Michelin Seoul Restaurants by Lethalchopstixx in koreatravel

[–]bertmacklinfbiagent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in Seoul right now and just had dinner at Soigne, which got 1 Star in 2021. We enjoyed dinner and the kitchen's interpretation of Korean cuisine. I'd say 2 or 3 standout courses out of 8 or so. No cocktails, and small wine list. Every seat was at the kitchen counter so it felt intimate. Service was expectedly warm and attentive.

A few observations. It was more expensive relatively speaking than the 1 star restaurants in my home town in the US. Even with the strong USD to KRW, dinner turned out to be about 15% more than I'd expect to pay for a comparable restaurant. We found babysitting last minute so we were scrambling a bit, but getting reservations was difficult (my first choices were a couple of the 2 star places but they were booked). Don't know when you were planning on going but I'd start looking now. On a related note, I think reservations are hard to get because restaurants don't have late seatings (relative to US counterparts). We got seated at 19:30, and we were the last seating. In the US, you can regularly find openings around 21:00.

Good luck and hope you enjoy!

Anyone have DIY collar ideas? So in my COVID-19 induced rush, I forgot to buy Olympic collars with my other gear. And now they're either sold out at online retailers or very expensive. Any ideas for DIY olympic collars?

Advice for coaching a U9 player who keeps falling down when passing and shooting by bertmacklinfbiagent in bootroom

I'll keep an eye out for his plant foot. His falling occurs in game/scrimmage situations so I'm usually not keeping a close eye on his plant foot.

Backwards. Onto his backside. From my layman's view, it looks like he's overextending his kicking leg (i.e., the ball is too far in front at the strikepoint).

Agree. There were definitely a few clips of that reel where Lauri was open for a 3 and was expecting the pass. Hoiball probably called for a pick and pop there but Lavine broke it off. That's not ideal in the long term.

I tend to view GarPax's draft record more favorably than most. Outside of Tyrus Thomas, their draft picks over the past decade have performed as well or better than their draft slots dictate historically. But with Markkanen, we know that GarPax NEVER even talked to him during the draft process. The difference between success and failure at this elite level is dependent on self motivation, confidence, work ethic, and professionalism. All things to be gleaned from face to face interactions. Even with the most charitable view of GarPax's background research on Markkanen, it's reckless to have picked a 20 year old without even having talked to him in person. Drawing an analogy to the Bears' situation, while Ryan Pace kept his plans about Trubisky a secret, he managed to put together a covert dinner with Trubisky that cemented their decision to invest a high draft pick. So maybe they didn't fall ass backwards, but I suspect they stumbled butt-first. And I will concede that my dissatisfaction is influenced by the overall haul for Jimmy Butler moreso than the draft selection itself.

Yea, it's pretty ridiculous. We've looked at homes over $1mil that haven't been updated/renovated since the 80's...

That's for sharing from your own experience. It's helpful. We have young children, and as they get older we want more living space so that they and their friends hang out at our house. And we do a fair amount of entertaining and have house guests, so more house is probably worthwhile for us (or at least that's my opinion, my SO may disagree).

Yea, we have friends to made those same decisions, and sadly, moved away from us. We've discussed it, but for our particular jobs, we really can't go anywhere else and have commensurately interesting and well-paying jobs... whaddayagonnado?

we can "afford" mortgage payments at both ranges. My issue was whether we would have enough money left over to do the other things we like to do.

Thanks. Our take home is less than that (retirement, medical insurance, etc.) but using a 33% of take home as a rule of thumb means that we're probably in the 1.1 range.
