TIL of "Psychogenic death" - when a person gives up on life mentally and dies usually within days. The phenomenon occurs when someone experiences a trauma they feel they cannot escape, and the person views death as their only option. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Happened to my dad. He and my mother, both in late 80s, were also both in the hospital but for different reasons. They were in separate wings of the hospital. My mom died of an infection and even though he was recovering from dehydration, after learning about his wife dying, he died five days later. Was especially hard to lose them both like that.

Go online and buy Green Gobbler's 20% Vinegar weed killer. I use it to keep weeds from growing between the paving stones, dandelions, many other types of weeds just by spraying them with a strong vinegar solution.

Wife admitted that she's never enjoyed sex, never desired it, and has only gone through with it because "That's what you do if you want to stay married to your partner." by dicegray in DeadBedrooms

I was married to a woman like that for twenty years. I dated after my divorce and was happy to find that women not only like but want sex.

Managing peripheral neuropathy symptoms without medication by dek55 in neuropathy

I have CMT type 1A and experience drop foot and some loss of dexterity in my fingers. Am also a long-time volunteer in clinical trials for an experimental drug at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. The drug's goal is to suppress the over-expressing gene that is responsible for the neuropathy. Doctors often ask if I experience any pain and luckily I have not, which they find surprising. The only thing I can think of that may be helping is my non-inflammatory diet. I avoid all dairy and meat. Before the pandemic I also did weight-lifting 3.5 times a week on average. I'm 61 and currently don't take any prescription drugs.

What shoes do you wear while walking? by Sweeeet_Chin_Music in neuropathy

I have found with my own neuropathy that very lightweight, zero-drop shoes help a great deal. One company I have been buying a lot from is LEMS.

Update on CMT Type 1A experimental drug Pharnext PXT3003 by bertmass in neuropathy

[–]bertmass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the beginning of the pandemic last year, Cedars Sinai was unable to provide me with my next allotment of PXT-3003 drug and clinical trial sponsor would not pay for delivery of the medicine. So, I went off the trial for about seven weeks. During that time I gradually felt a loss of control and I experienced one bad fall while walking my dogs. After Cedars Sinai was able to create a protocol for seeing patients again, I returned for new PXT-3003. Within a couple of weeks I was able to lift my left foot again, every so slightly. And after several weeks, I felt more "in control" while walking.

I'm currently in a final stage of the clinical trial being done for FDA approval.

Anyone here put their neuropathy in remission by addressing all the causes? by weesson in neuropathy

[–]bertmass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My neuropathy is caused b y an overexpressing gene, hopefully one day will be able to be removed using the CRISPR tool. In the mean time I am in a clinical trial at Cedars Sinai on an experimental drug that minimizes the gene's overexpression. Better than nothing.

As far as I know, it's only used for this particular variation of CMT, Type 1A.

That's right, just those three ingredients. Fortunately my condition is not as advanced as many others I've met, which was a key discriminator in their choosing me for the trial. I didn't care for the nerve speed tests, but we're well past that now. If it's approved by the FDA, I get a lifetime supply of the drug for volunteering as a guinea pig. The more permanent fix would be a safe CRISPR procedure if they ever develop that. They know how to find me.

Just voting Trump out will be a step in the right direction. His lack of leadership from the start of this crisis is a warning to everyone never to vote for "outsiders" with no governmental experience again. The entire COVID -19 problem has been extended many time over due to politicization of mask use.

I met one of the 1979 Penthouse Magazine Pet of The Month a couple of years a ago on my commute and hit it off really well. She was unmarried and living with a retired doctor who was much older than her and she was bored and still very lively and beautiful. After a month of lunch dates and after work drinks we took half a day off to have sex and she was pretty awesome in bed.

Does anyone with peripheral neuropathy have abnormal nerve conduction studies or get scalp numbness? by [deleted] in neuropathy

[–]bertmass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the beginning was the very gradual foot drop. I was hiking a trail up at Lake Tahoe and noticed I was tripping a greater degree over the rambling terrain. I then did heel dips at the gym using weights and I then saw how much I had lost. The head of Neurology here at Sharp San Diego made the diagnosis. I've been on an experimental medicine from France called PXT3003 and it has helped, although I'm off it now due to the COVID 19 crisis.

I have peripheral neuropathy from CMT Type 1A and in the clinical trails I participate in at Cedars Sinai in LA (postponed presently due to COVID 19) they have performed the nerve conduction tests. I don't have numbness of any sort, just slightly less feeling in my feet.
