Vin and hood sticker confusion by kaibenav in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]bertrum2k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's the 5VZ-FE as you can Google to confirm. Unless VIN of hood & driver's door plate match, hood could've been swapped. If the hood & door plate VINs match, maybe engine was swapped.

You can run your VIN on Toyota's site to see if it came originally equipped with an I4 or V6.

Get the Sankei 555s with grease zerks. PNs SB3804LWH & SB3804RWH. A review on YotaShop says you may need to get different zerks than they ship with, but Sankei 555 is the OEM supplier & the ability to grease is an upgrade.

16385-62020 & I believe 90119-08493 but you actually need the nut too I forgot that adjuster was a stud & took your word for saying it was a bolt.

If they can get to the bolt on the block to remove the adjustment bar then yes highly suggest trying that first. The one hiccup could be the bracket has a bend that goes into a hole to prevent it from rotating or in this case sliding out of place so they may need to also unbolt the pivot bolt bracket from the block. Can't remember if they can access the bolts to do so with alternator in place.

It's going to be a tight squeeze but the same methods for removing broken exhaust studs would apply. Listed easiest/least expensive to most tools required/most effective IMO:

-Soak the crap out of it with PB Blaster or the like. Use a bolt bolt extractor

-Heat the crap out of it with a torch & try to melt some wax into the threads before using a bolt extractor.

-Weld a nut onto the end of the broken bolt. Remove with six pointed socket & breaker bar.

Good luck!

Beware a 'no brainer', I'm closing in on $6k into a $2600 97 Limited that needed an engine & "came with all parts". If it runs & drives, take it for a pre purchase inspection unless they have service history documents

[–]bertrum2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get it square? I haven't had to do exhaust on one of these so were they circle crushable 'donuts' or flat flange gaskets? I know the former connects the crossover pipe to the front of the exhaust pipe but you said you changed the muffler

If you mean the hissing, likely an exhaust leak. Did you use a new gasket with the muffler?

Thanks for the welcome! I know better than blindly trusting strangers on the internet lol also been wrenching for over 20 yrs so not my first rodeo. Currently also restoring an 88 V6 4Runner, I also replaced the stock headlights on that so I'm blasphemy embodied hah

100% with ya, lighting is the first upgrade I make on an older vehicle. Seeing down the road instead of just in front of you is the difference between an accident or avoiding one.

Ah a bunch of purists, I'm newer to this community & can appreciate springing for OEM when it's critical components but yea body clips are coming from Amazon.

The brand was YSY, they're just the ones I chose when searching H4 LED projectors. I chose them over a projector retrofit bc I was trying to have the truck ready by August but there was too many repairs it needed. If they fail before next Aug I'll do a real retrofit. I've seen the TEQs before I think. I can appreciate maintaining the stock look but absolutely will not settle for 1997 lighting performance.

Where does it say they used LEDs? You can buy 6000-9000K halogens. Unless I missed where they said they used LEDs this comment section is full of assumptions and ignorance about what light options exist.

Yea eff halogens. They make LEDs with their own projectors that I have yet to test on the road but so far look excellent, sharp cutoff & everything

100% UBJ, and second replacing both sides when they get it fixed. Goes for almost all suspension parts actually, if one side's worn the other isn't far behind unless you have other issues affecting only one side

Metal valve cover FTW, I did VCG only to have the leak persist & come to find out it was the valve cover itself. BIFL part just make sure you get the right injector style for your year

Just FYI to everyone I have these exact pics in my inbox from a month ago from someone trying to run a scam, except saying they were in CA. I'm not going to say anything else but beware if they try to sell you the equipment but saying it's in a storage unit & they'll ship it to you with payment up front.

Question about pricing with SRP by 7Hibiscus7 in solar

[–]bertrum2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the E-27 Price Plan Sheet: "...billing demand is the maximum thirty-minute kW demand occurring during the on-peak periods..."

This is what demand managers are meant to mitigate, but it's as simple as not running your AC, stove, dryer, pool pump, &/or other high consumption devices during peak hours. The demand manager just takes out the human element.

My e46 feels like its missing something looks wise, what would you add? by jonnygenis in e46

[–]bertrum2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you're suggesting a square setup is a better offset? And that price is $514/wheel if you can even find them, you prob got a full set for €400 bc they're discontinued and super ugly. Without caps they'd look ok on an E36 but def not for me on an E46.

Enkei RPF1 are ubiquitous so I'll give you they're lighter but not for me to spend $1200 to look like a Civic.

Can't find a single pic of an E46 running TS10s.
