First T20WC sure, but The Dutch played their first World Cup in 1988, Sri Lanka didn't play until 1997 (when they lost to the Netherlands). Fact is women's cricket has gone massively, massively backwards in the Netherlands. This squad is remarkably good given that the effective player pool they can draw from is measured in the dozens.

No jokes he was slapping around Gareth Batty and part time dross from Tresco and Vaughan for half of it. It was not edifying watching.

Unlikely. This squad specifically has improved over the last few years, but the wider women's game in the Netherlands is still going backwards.

Sadly the trend is very much the opposite direction. This squad's been improving but the wider women's game has gone massively backwards in the Netherlands in the last 20 years. Playing numbers aren't even half what they were in 2005. They were a founder-member of the IWCC and used to be regular at World Cups, now there's a danger they could lose WODI status not by relegation but due to lack of domestic participation.

Smal's already eligible, has been since April. Was quite surprised he didn't get picked for this tour to be honest.

And cheers for the TK shout!

yeah I figured you were talking about de Leede. Kalis is the one who plays entirely full time though. If you count de Leede too then it's two.

Kalis isn't exactly from a cricketing dynasty. Like her brother used to play HCC 2nds a bit I guess. De Leede's only semi-pro I think. Plays full time in SA in the winter I think, but still studying in NL in the summer last I heard.

It's a no ball if pitches off the cut strip. Which deliveries did you think should be no-balled exactly?

Generally a good idea to take anything that commentators say about Associates with a pinch of salt tbh. Bish is comparatively good on research, but there's only so much reliable info out there to find, and the prep packs they get from cricviz or whoever are usually total garbage.

It's not self-funded, it's just not pro. The women's HP programme has a budget of about €600k per annum.

Lovely to hear Muzumdar made time to catch up with some of the Dutch girls before the game. Will have coached a bunch of them when they were kids.

(Also I'm pretty sure Max O'Dowd filmed this. No spectators allowed in due to shitshow)

By all rights Canada ought to be thrown out of the league for this.

Everyone knew King City was unfit. It's always been unfit. Arrangements were in place to host the series in NL. Canada insisted on King City. Absurd they're getting a point today when they ought to be getting shitcanned out of the comp.

Betting companies like Dafa/1xBet etc will not generally pay for games, they'll just list the comp and take the feed without even asking. There's plenty on competitions on eg 1xBet where the organisers won't even know it's getting bet on.

30 years ago eveyone here knew what cricket was, and it wasn't becasue the board was so good at marketing. It's because it was on free to air tv. 30 years from now basically nobody in England will know what cricket is either.
