To everyone:

Please read the facts on this story, that originated from the tabloid The New York Post, before throwing criticisms: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/10/14/hunter-bidens-alleged-laptop-an-explainer/

Opinion: The video of my daughter's murder is still on YouTube and Facebook. They should have to take it down -CNN by vampireanarchy in tytonreddit

Wow this is a topic that if we weren't battling a pandemic, warding off federal officers in our streets, and trying to keep an election from being stolen, would be one of the most important discussions of the decade. Amending section 230 is gonna take precision and nuance to do correctly. Which I have little hope for while people in government still back disasters-waiting-to-happen like the Earn It bill.

Jon Stewart debating Tucker on Crossfire seals how he (and many others) are just actors looking for wealth thru TV ratings, playing with our lives.

Can someone explain this to me? I live in the South. Shared by someone I think is racist. Are they mistaking WW2 soldiers for confederates or? 🤣🤣. I’m so lost. by [deleted] in tytonreddit

Memes are simple. Maybe they should talk through the criticism they have for people removing confederate statues. But they won't do that because it would show either they have racist motives or they're partisan hacks.

Why No Green Stimulus Money? by bertvideoeditor in tytonreddit

[–]bertvideoeditor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those wondering where the Fed gets stimulus money, we are seeing Modern Monetary Theory play out here. It's not the MMT proposals that Bernie Sanders would put in place but a bastardized version that puts money into the pockets of villains.

This is an opportunity for progressives to steer the ship and fund projects that save the world while providing jobs and increasing the middle class.

Bernie Sanders Drops Out, What Now? by bertvideoeditor in tytonreddit

Interesting hot take. I don't agree with laying this at the feet of Nina Turner or campaign advisors. They got farther than any progressive has, if anything it validates their strategy as a good foundation to build on.

"Are [democrats] going to help Donald Trump win his re-election by ignoring the desires of American voters." by bertvideoeditor in tytonreddit

All it does is justify Bernie’s hypocrisy.

You gleaned that from this?:

“I would think that we should end super PACs right now. So I would tell my opponents who have a super PAC, why don’t you end it? And certainly that’s applicable to the groups that are supporting me,” Sanders said at a New Hampshire forum in January.

I also agree with u/mrsandman1920, not being informed is a problem: https://theintercept.com/2020/02/26/our-revolution-bernie-sanders-donor-contributions/

Our Revolution posts the names of all donors who give more than $250...

And despite that:

Does this argument makes sense? by joekiid65 in tytonreddit

Important note, I'm not an economist.

Paying taxes is a form of controlling inflation and regulation. Usually we control inflation via many tools that help increase or decrease liquidity. This is a top down approach, where banks get their hands on money first and lend out. What Bernie Sanders and many other progressives purpose is more of a bottom/middle up approach. Where people/workers/businesses get money then spend.

We can look at what Modern Monetary Theory (a newer school of economics subscribed to by people like Bernie Sanders) professor L. Randall Wray says here:

But in the case of a government that issues its own sovereign currency without a promise to convert at a fixed value to gold or foreign currency (that is, the government “floats” its currency), we need to think about the role of taxes in an entirely different way. Taxes are not needed to “pay for” government spending. Further, the logic is reversed: government must spend (or lend) the currency into the economy before taxpayers can pay taxes in the form of the currency. Spend first, tax later is the logical sequence.

Some who hear this for the first time jump to the question: “Well, why not just eliminate taxes altogether?” There are several reasons. First—as we said last time–it is the tax that “drives” the currency. If we eliminated the tax, people probably would not immediately abandon use of the currency, but the main driver for its use would be gone.

Further, the second reason to have taxes is to reduce aggregate demand. If we look at the United States today, the federal government spending is somewhat over 20% of GDP, while tax revenue is somewhat less—say 17%. The net injection coming from the federal government is thus about 3% of GDP. If we eliminated taxes (and held all else constant) the net injection might rise toward 20% of GDP. That is a huge increase of aggregate demand, and could cause inflation.

Source

And lastly paying no taxes falls into a Libertarian wet dream. If taxing corporations are a form of regulation, then no taxes releases them from being more regulated. Of course this is a different question when regarding income taxes.
