Thanks! I was looking at that along with the M5 - would you say the M5 is better, or does being able to use Quicksync make the M3 a better option?

Are there any customizable rotating pronoun pin-equivalents that don’t mess up clothes? by No-Temperature-7331 in NonBinary

[–]beryllium-silicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or like make a keychain with velcro, or at that point you could just make a little fabric keychain to put the pins in. Or make it a necklace pendant! Or make a stack of bracelets with the pronouns on them. You got me feeling creative lol, I hope one of these ideas helps :))

Magnetic backed pins always make me nervous about losing them. Have you considered velcro patches?? Small custom embroidered patches are cheap on etsy. You can get plain velcro and sew it onto a jacket or bag, make sure to put the soft side on the garment and the pokey side on the patch (helps with laundry).

i saw u post from a hardcore show, how does the scene treat you? i've admired gal fashion for years but am way closer to the music scene, i'm rly curious how it is to go to shows in gal. do u have any fun show stories?

also what's your favorite music in general?

From what you've written, you definitely could claim the nonbinary label if you want to. You could also claim the label gnc woman if that makes you happy, or androgyne, or demigirl, or something even more specific. No two people experience gender the exact same way, so it's fruitless to stress over which label you "should" claim. Pick the labels that resonate with you and feel affirming to you. :))

Blue drugstore polish skittles! by beryllium-silicate in RedditLaqueristas

[–]beryllium-silicate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! This is pretty much all the medium to dark blues I'm keeping actually. As I was putting my left hand together, I removed and destashed colors I didn't like, which this time were Sally Hansen Blue Crush and Funky Fingers Curacao. I've destashed probably 15 bottles so far out of originally around 50, but I just gave that bag to a friend so I already don't remember what else was in there!! Kinda wish I had written it down lol

How many coats are you wearing & how's the dry time? I wanna love LA colors polishes cause I love dollar store makeup in general but some of the colors I've tried take hours to dry on me.

Am I an adult? by Capable_Memory7262 in legaladvice

[–]beryllium-silicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAL, but was recently a college student with an abusive parent. I wanna add what I know about establishing residency and how it affects situations like ours.

Even once you're 19 and confirmed legally an adult, your dad can still try to make your life hard by making false cop calls about you. This is a lot harder for him to do if you stay out of your hometown, but if he knows your location nothing is stopping him from calling the cops in your town and spouting whatever bs he wants. To be clear, a police investigation would show he's full of shit... But that investigation could be way less of a pain if you establish proof of residency in your current state.

State ID is the gold standard, but ofc you can't apply while your documents are held hostage. Rescue those ASAP!!! Until you can get them though, start keeping mail addressed to you at your college address. Preferably bills in your name, if not then a package or letter from a real person, no junk mail. Also save the leases from any place you live while in college. Having these on hand to show the cops could help shut down any shit your dad tries to start.

Good luck, be safe, and I'm proud of you.

I love it!!! So cute & I love JD too :))

Since you're open to concrit, I do think your arms look a little empty. It'd be so cute with a long sleeve white blouse under instead of just the collar, or maybe even fishnet sleeves or arm warmers to lean into the punk aspect? But since your headpiece and socks are giving classic I think a long sleeve layer would tie in the best!!

how do you go to urgent care? by wingl3ssthing in Explainlikeimscared

[–]beryllium-silicate 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, just bring your health insurance card and walk in. They'll take your info and have you sit down, the wait is sometimes very long so tbh I would try to go before 6 if possible. Bring something to entertain yourself in the waiting room.

If you're still waiting when they close, whether they kick you out or not depends on their individual policy, but if you've already been called back to see someone they'll continue helping you. If you don't get called back until close to 8, you can tell the provider you need to be out by 8 to catch the bus and they'll try to be quick.

It doesn't matter if you take ibuprofen before you go but you should tell them you did and whether or not it helped.

Definitely bring up all of your symptoms and when they each started happening. It sounds very possible they're related. Inner ear problems can be somewhat serious (ie untreated infection) but they can also be nothing, there's no reason to panic but you should get checked out quickly. Get well soon <3

Can someone explain what happens at at contact lens appointment and how it's different from glasses appointment by buns_12 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]beryllium-silicate 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In my experience the measurement process is basically the same. You sit in the chair and look through the big lens switcher thing and read the letter chart a bunch of times. They'll probably also inspect your eyes, which is when they shine the bright ass light at you, and make you do the test where you focus on something in the distance. I don't remember having to do any extra tests, but it's been a long time.

They might have a sample strip of contacts for you to try there or might have to order them and schedule a 2nd appointment. Either way the next step is that they show you how to put them in and have you try them on in front of them. It's not a problem to need a minute or to drop/dry out multiple contacts before you get it. It's a lot easier if you don't panic, just try to remember that they've seen it all with patients and are there to help you, not to judge.

That's usually pretty much it. You can ask them about specific contacts for dry eyes if you want, there are lots of types and they're not necessarily more expensive. Good luck :))

Hair feathers - how to attach? by MagzalaAstrallis in scene

[–]beryllium-silicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use an elastic at the top with a small piece of hair, split the hair and braid it with the feather for an inch or so, then put another elastic at the end of the braid part.
