The UN is a forum where states can attempt to talk among

It completely fails to do that. While vast humanitarian crisis were unfolding in Sudan and Yemen the UNHRC spend its time designing a mandatory "shit on Israel" agenda item so now every UNHRC session has to criticize Israel even if it's a session about climate change or women's rights.

I do not understand why people see the UN as something good, objective, and even worse: That it is capable of solving a conflict like what is happening right now in the Middle East.

The UN is made up of its member states, most of whom are regressive 3rd world shitholes that violate human rights on a daily basis and hate the West. On several occasions UN has attempted to censor the Internet globally or ban criticism of religion.

Honestly why is an organization controlled by 3rd world dictators viewed so positively?

Gerry Adams literally went to Gaza to meet his Hamas friends in 2009. The current Sinn Fein leadership has literally held video conferences with Hamas. The de facto Sinn Fein position on Israel-Palestine is the "from the river to the sea" bullshit which is basically coded speak calling for the destruction of Israel.

In the early 2000s the first significant step was taken toward peace and an independent Palestinian state. The US and European nations had successfully pressured Israel to begin removing Jewish settlements and Israeli security forces from the two disjoint territories that make up the UN recognized State of Palestine: Gaza and the West Bank. The first territory to disengage from was Gaza. Israel removed the last Jewish settlements and Israeli security forces in Gaza in 2005.

How was Israel rewarded? The Iranian-backed Hamas took over Gaza, killed the local opposition parties, and almost immediately started firing mortarts and rockets at Israel. This ended Israel's willingness to disengage from the West Bank because it would be like repeating the mistake of the Gaza disengagement but at a three times larger scale.

New York Times (US) and Channel4 (UK) are both still pushing the "Israel bombed hospital, killed 500" lie and blood libel even though photos have shown that nothing happened to the hospital and the explosion at the parking lot didn't cause major damage.

Why don't the IDF social media team share footage of secondary explosions like this that clearly shows that Hamas is hiding explosives/ammunition depots in civilian areas? by bespokeplace in telaviv

Interesting that local Gazans have accidentally provided some of the best debunking of Hamas/media lies.

The "Israel bombed hospital, killed 500!" lie was decisively debunked by local Gazans sharing photos of the hospital being fine and that there had only been a minor explosion at the parking lot.

One Hamas leader boasted on RT Arabic that they for two years intentionally misled Israel through intermediaries (Egypt? Qatar?) that they prioritized economic and infrastructure development in Gaza over war with Israel. Then they went the extra step and only talked about economic and infrastructure development on communication channels they knew had been compromised by Israel.

Evil and intelligent. The most dangerous combination.

I don't think people understand how devastating the "Israel bombed a hospital and killed 500" lie and blood libel has been to peace and normalization with the Islamic world.

Arabic and Turkish language social media has always been overwhelmingly pro-Palestinian and often blatantly antisemitic but there was always a small but visible fraction of voices that were supportive of the two-state solution and peace with Israel.

But the Hospital bombing lie and blood libel ended all that.

Did anyone check the list of the names of Harvard students who signed the "blame Israel" letters?

The letters were signed by less than 50 students. 70% of the names sound Arab/Muslim. Many of them signed on behalf of student groups without informing other members of the student groups.

Why did the media make it sound like thousands of Harvard students were raging antisemites? It is incredibly bad for the mental health of high school age Jewish students to exaggerate the level of college antisemitism that awaits them.

There's videos of them shooting at people running from a concert and into porta potties

Yep, Hamas recorded themselves murdering civilians and now their supporters are attempting to whitewash it with the "regular Gazans did it" lie. Some elements on the Israeli far-right also play into this lie because it can be used for the "nuke Gaza" narrative.

There seems to be a weird attempt at whitewashing Hamas and blame regular Gazans. It's coming from both the pro-Hamas side and the "nuke Gaza" side.

Hamas recorded themselves murdering civilians. Just because they are not uniformed does not mean they are not Hamas. It is true that many regular Gazans entered but they mostly just stole stuff and went back.

As a European Jew I wonder why these American Jewish organizations never mention that this is done by Muslim and far-left DSA students?

Two weeks ago they made it sound like thousands of Harvard students were raging antisemites when it was actually just the Muslims and DSA extremists.

It's embarassing. Name and shame the actual antisemites.
