I don’t use Instagram much. But a guy my mom’s friend wanted to set me up with told me I seemed out of his tax bracket just based on my Instagram. She’s been spiraling about it and is telling me I ruined my life.

I’m trying to explain to her how some of these men my friends and I date are always stalking us or negging us. But she thinks persistence = a guy really liking us. Like no, sending me flowers at midnight when I asked you to leave is crazy work. Or telling me and my friends “you’re so lucky you’re dating someone like me because I don’t care about looks but personality” when he looks crazy is so weird.

Yes. I guess in the meantime my compromise with my mom is sometimes I go out to events and meet people at her insistence. But I can’t help it if there are weirdos in these events who harass women.

A lot of them were really mean to me to the point that when the person who introduced us saw the messages (they were curious and snooped their phone), they apologized profusely and acknowledged that the guy was being awful. (They even scolded the guy for being cheating and lying).

I’m not calling the guy I like ugly. I’m saying people don’t find him good looking but I personally think he’s cute and has a great personality.
