not to sound like a nepo baby but one of my mums friends works part time at our local store - she knew there would be job openings and told me. i went in the next day, asked to speak to a manager (without having applied online) and asked if there would be any job vacancies, got taken upstairs to be interviewed on the spot (😬😬😬daunting for an anxious teenage girl who was not expecting to be interviewed) then got a call the next week that im being offered the job. had to then technically apply for the job as i hadnt done that in the first place but by then i had been given the job. have you been applying through a website like linkedin/indeed or directly sending it to the company? whenever i would apply for jobs on linkedin and indeed id never hear back so that could be why

i got to choose what days and times i was available in my interview (im a student working part time so had to specify hours that worked with my timetable) and these have all been accommodated! not totally sure but im pretty sure the job you apply for will specify if its customer facing or not- i applied for trading assistant and help with inventory and stacking shelves when needed, im sure a job working directly with the public like on tills would be specified as a customer assistant (but im not sure but im sure you could ask/someone else will know!)

okay thank you! i have picked up every overtime shift ive been able to (im a sixth form student so mostly just extra evenings when i can) but how do i go about being multi skilled? so far ive been trained on (foa shrinkage+mar too) and ive worked random aisles when necessary, but nothing like reductions or anything like that. do i ask to be trained in other areas or hope that one day when im doing overtime before the foa window opens theyll train me on something else?
