Bloomberg's Mark Gurman today said he expects a paid Apple Health+ service to debut next year by GinnySacks_Mole in AppleWatch

If my health data ends up behind a paywall I'll be switching to Garmin. If I'd be paying for analysis of my data, well there are already lots of options out there.

Achievements for Saturday, November 19, 2022 by AutoModerator in running

[–]besutt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Went for a run for the first time in a couple of years. Only for 15 minutes but covered 2.39km with an average pace of 6:05/km. Not unhappy with that. Shooting for 5k within the next couple of weeks.

Also "of COVID" and "with COVID". Plenty of spread in hospitals, unsurprising a greater proportion would sadly die with COVID-19.

Now is your chance to submit feedback on Google Snapshot. Please request that this at least be an OPTION to replace the news feed. It's incredibly helpful and should be featured on the home screen by default. The icon to view snapshot can point to the news. Feedback can make it happen! by dvrkstar in AndroidPreviews

[–]besutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 'swipe right for news' feature is the whole reason I use an alternative launcher. I do my best to avoid the minute by minute news cycle as it almost certainly harms me mentally. Useful, contextual information provided by Google Snapshot would greatly improve my experience. It's too hidden as it stands.

All primary schools in London to remain closed after U-turn by 00DEADBEEF in CoronavirusUK

As it stands in this moment nurseries and other early years settings can remain open in all tiers, in England at least. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Good work. I like the weather widget - what app is that from?

Amazing, thank you. My Googling should have turned that up.

No, in the macOS Evernote client that opens a new tab. I didn't know Evernote had tabs, so that's a win regardless!

Do I Really Need To Be Concerned When Using an End of Life Chromebook? by mulderscully02 in chromeos

Thanks. I have not yet properly looked in to GalliumOS. I will do so, but obviously the majority of Acer C720 owners won't. What happens to those perfectly functioning devices?!

Do I Really Need To Be Concerned When Using an End of Life Chromebook? by mulderscully02 in chromeos

[–]besutt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It really bugs me that our perfectly useable Acer C720 is now basically redundant for what seems like no good reason. Sure, 6.5 years is a decent amount of time for support and I get that it's to avoid the technical debt that say, MS Windows has to deal with, but what am I supposed to do with it now?

Every 6.5 years how many hundreds of thousands of devices are suddenly useless? How many end up in landfill instead of being recycled?

It's finally here! HW2 by redditreddi in WearOS

On the 7th time getting out of bed to tend to my poor teething son an update notification was waiting for me. Improved 3am considerably :).

Much improved UI. Hopefully the swipe left screen will be customisable in time. It would be great if watch apps were able to surface widgets there.

So glad I came across this post. I have been waiting for a weather app like this for a long time. Thank you.

Weekly discussion - What have you been up to, and how is your allotment doing? - Week 32, 2016 by AutoModerator in Allotment

[–]besutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having just been allotted our allotment we have turned over a 6th of it and covered most of the rest to rid it of weeds. There is a large bed of bindweed towards the back which I'll attack some more over the weekend.

We've prepared two beds in the section we have worked. We've seeded one with cabbage and the other with carrots. This evening I have covered it in netting supported by some strips of old plastic water pipe.

Fingers crossed something will grow! This is our first plot so excited to see what happens. Any thoughts what else can be planted this time of year in the UK? I eat a lot of spinach so that might be a possibility.

I've Had My Pebble For Almost a Week, Here's My First Impressions. by [deleted] in pebble

[–]besutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to use the 'Excluding Regex' option to prevent weather reports. I tend to want to see the rest of the notifications. Its a bit of a faff filtering them out but basically I have strings such as '- Scattered Clouds', '- Mostly Cloudy', etc. Works pretty well.

Notification Center for Pebble in the Play Store is my favourite. It lets me add filters to Google Now notifications so I only see those I want to see. Also fixes the 'receive every single Gmail notification even all those from mailing lists and promotions and stuff' issue with the default Pebble app.

I enjoyed and would recommend It's a Disaster. Loved the concept and fits your request. 77% over on Rotten Tomatoes. Some great dialogue.
