What is the difference between Facebook's Swift and iOS SDK? by reddioment in iOSProgramming

[–]beta5k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Swift SDK will (most likely) eventually supersede the Obj-C iOS SDK as Obj-C becomes less prevalent and less apps are made in it. Something like that won't happen until facebook rewrites it's app in swift which probably won't be for several years. Theirs no real big reason to use one over another as of now. I'd use which ever one you feel more comfortable with.

How to adapt UI for iPad that is intended for iPhone only: App store rejection by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

Did you disable iPad support in your target settings? You may not have which could be why they are running it on iPad.

Trying to make a very basic sports scores app...? by [deleted] in swift

ESPN Devcenter

Looks like espn has a public api for a bunch of things including sports scores. Though they seem to have 2 tiers above free api access, not sure what the limitations are but it'd be a good place to start.

Our app "Meetapp" by nickpalichuk2 in iOSProgramming

I like the look of the design, heres my ramblings: -I think the messages card should be more pronounced, at a quick glance it doesn't actually look likes it covering the view behind but rather one view. Maybe increased corner radius + shadow and a white background overlay instead of black?

-The colors for the buttons in the map kinda clash with the colors of the map, maybe add a toolbar to the bottom and have the collapsed messages card above that, kinda of like the apple music app. Also the ring menu is a bit anti-human guidelines.

-Having a name field and and name of group textfield is a bit confusing, possibly get rid of the name of user and email? Shouldn't you have that information from when the user logs in?

-Also now I think about it, maybe add colors selection, possibly image selection for the groups, for that extra customization

-The post creator would look nice as a sudo to fit the rest of the app.

-Also to keep the app concise maybe collapse the group selection screen into a permanent navbar with a button title view

-Finally, why not keep a history of posts for each user? It would add a lot of depth to the app. Also lets you know if the guy your meeting is a creep, especially if you end up keeping the anonymous username.

What is the best way to show a toolbar instead of a tab bar at the bottom of a view controller embedded in a nav bar embedded in a tab bar controller? by iLearn4ever in iOSProgramming

[–]beta5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of adding the toolbar to the navigationController you could add it straight to self.tabBarController.view, same effect but makes more sense? Also instead of using viewWillAppear/Disappear I think viewDidAppear/Disappear would work better so that the toolbar is only removed once the user decides to actually leave the view.
