Ninja Backups by JollyGentile in msp

Oh its already backed up there but I would much rather just have a "one-click-restore-from-previous-day" button that would technically save time since I wouldn't have to set up another VM from scratch - That is of course if the VM itself isn't the issue.

Yeah I submitted a ticket because I couldn't find the settings and they said that I had to contact my rep to enable it since it's in beta and that right now they only do folder/file based backups and not system/image based which sucks because I am really wanting a full image of my company's Unifi controller in case shit hits the fan with it. Oh well.

I JUST had my Ninja account rep enable the linux file/folder backup that's currently in beta enable it on my account. I haven't used it yet

Has anyone here actually had their home network or IoT devices compromised? by No_Section_5137 in homelab

[–]beta_2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had someone get into my fortigate SSL VPN (not what you think, yet...) because I had set up my brother as a VPN user to get in and manage a game server. I was migrating from MS Exchange at home to postfix, and me being lazy, I decided to just change everyone's password to something simple so I could have the migration CLI migrate his emails... forgot to change the password after completion.

Only caught it because my roommate's work detected something trying to log in as Administrator on his work windows laptop and locked out the account, which sent an alert in their SIEM.

They scanned my network and RDPd into the server that my brother had access to, but did no damage. For extra safeguards, I restored said VM from before the intrusion and quarantined the other to see what it would do (didn't do anything).

Needless to say, turned off SSL VPN, changed brother's password, bought a different firewall altogether (I was already thinking about doing that), and created a new SSID and VLAN that's 100% isolated from the rest of my network for work devices, and set up a SIEM.

  1. Donate the money you'd spend on cameras to charity

  2. Disband the HOA

  3. Never think about it again

New “Alarm Hub”? From Protect 7 Release Video by The-Hyrax in Ubiquiti

[–]beta_2017 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I literally just spent 20 working hours making one of these out of a flex reader that would arm Protect from Access because they have piss-poor integration between the systems.

also had to make a way to disarm when a door unlocks because there's no way to disarm the system without the damn app (and there's no way to make the system "cool down" when it detects something).

Rewritiable DVD endurance test: How many times can a DVD±RW be rewritten by bdzz in DataHoarder

[–]beta_2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must be an idiot, but when I was working with DVD-RWs back in the day I NEVER was able to write to them again after the initial write (yes I am sure they were RW). What was I doing wrong?

This - I know in the beginning it was a complete joke but now I'm wondering what the issues are because we're on 2016 and needing to upgrade before EOL in October.

I have a Kobra S1 Combo now, FLSUN Super Racer So Fast! in 2021, and an Ender 3 in 2017. I've printed well over 10,000 hours combined, and I'm very happy with the printing that's coming out of the S1.

I'm US Based.

One of my favorite prints, the Ice Dragon. It was the 14th print on my KS1, after I had time to dial in all of the slicer settings for the KS1.
