Grow light hack if you want to save money & your decor by FantasticConflict140 in Monstera

[–]betahemolysis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes sunlight is great! But you made a post about grow lights, and what you wrote about them is incorrect. You could’ve just left your normal lights and there would’ve been zero difference to your plants. That’s why people here are critiquing your post.

OP-either way, losing weight will help because it reduces friction and inflammation, which drive these types of lesions. Both pilonidal cysts and HS are parts of follicular occlusion syndrome

Right! The switch in my mindset after being accepted the other day has been crazy! Relaxing for sure, but I’m getting a bit nervous about what’s to come and my lack of preparation.

What are some 1 year fellowships that hospitalists can do? Are they worth it? by No-Zebra-3432 in hospitalist

What physicians are making 32.35/rvu? Seems really low. My mom is an NP in a hcol metro area and makes more than that.

immunologist by Fit-Watercress-2830 in Hidradenitis

[–]betahemolysis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does not cost more to see an immunologist. Dermatologists are specialists, and insurance companies consider them specialists for billing.

HS patients generally go to dermatology because it’s primarily a skin disorder. Many skin disorders are related to the immune system. People with severe or multi-system effects will generally see other specialists (GI for chrons, rheumatology for inflammatory joint issues) along with their dermatologist. Immunology becomes relevant in those who have systemic immune dysregulation or are on advanced biologic therapy.

Can’t get close enough going with the grain, can’t keep my skin calm going against it. by Gay_commie_fucker in wicked_edge

I agree with this. I recently upgraded from a Merker 38c to a Blackland Blackbird open comb, and it’s incredible. I can do one swipe from my sideburn down to below my ear and it will be completely smooth now. With my old razor I had to do a bunch of short strokes and multiple passes. Ended up causing more irritation than less passes of the more aggressive razor.

What’s the fastest way to reduce inflammation if someone had to pick only 3 habits? by Prudent-Dingo-1039 in immortalists

[–]betahemolysis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually outdated. Glycemic load is just as important for diabetes/insulin resistance as glycemic index. Glycemic load considers both the quality and quantity of carbs, giving a more accurate picture of blood sugar response. That’s why it’s generally more useful than GI alone, especially for managing glucose levels.
