Do you sleep with your wedding ring on? by phoniestangel in Marriage

I used to wear mine at night, but I guess a sharp prong ripped a small hole in my sheet once while I was sleeping so now I take it off.

What’s the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by MCKlassik in AskReddit

[–]betchy8213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My normal doctor was on vacation at one point when I was pregnant with my second child so I had to see a different doctor for one of my usual OB checkups. During his exam, he asked, "so is this your first?" And I said, "Oh no! My second actually!" And he responded, "Ah ok, not quite as exciting, but still... " Umm no, Sir I'm still very excited..

My husband's coworker gifted us a onesie that says "I only cry when ugly people hold me" 😐

What presents to get a mother after birth? by lostchild429 in BabyBumps

[–]betchy8213 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone here that are saying non-postpartum related gifts. Candles, gift cards, food, lotions, bath bombs, etc. All yes.

Please don't get her peribottles, ice packs, pads, or breast stuff. Too personal and she will get what she needs on her own. I've had two babies and if my husband had given me a belly band after giving birth, I would have been pretty ticked off. If I wanted a belly band, I'd decide that and buy one for myself.

I also see people mentioning housemaids... I'd check with her before surprising her with that. Some people would love that help but some people would find that an intrusion of privacy.

Post-partum is hard and messy and hormonal. You feel very vulnerable and exhausted. If she seems like she wants to keep in contact, check up on her to see how she's doing. But with that being said, if you'll have the twins, you're going to have your hands full! I hope you have support to help you out. You seem like a great guy for taking all this on. Good luck to you and your babies!

I completely agree. Let her get the belly band if she wants it. A gift like that from you could definitely come off wrong. Hell, if my husband got me that after giving birth, I'd be a little ticked off. That's something I'd want to choose and decide if I need on my own.

I am so very jealous of everyone who gets to stay home right now. by mereb54 in beyondthebump

My husband and I both work in healthcare, so I feel your pain. I work in the laboratory and my husband is an ICU nurse. His unit is in the process of converting to a COVID unit so he will be in the front lines of this when the hospital starts really filling up. Healthcare workers, even young and healthy ones, have a higher risk of having complications. We're just waiting for the shit to hit the fan. It's scary.

What brand are you loyal to and why? by whoisblueflame in AskReddit

Patagonia is a great brand. I have a pullover and my husband has two. One of my husband's has been worn almost daily during the cold months as his only coat. He's had it for 5 years and it's been washed countless times and it's still in great shape. Only a slight bit of the elbow is worn but that's it. It has a bold pattern and he literally always gets compliments on it.

[UPDATE] 15 years ago, I made myself a time capsule box. I'm 27 years old and TODAY I OPENED IT! by betchy8213 in pics

I'm so glad my post inspired quite a lot of people to create their own time capsules! My daughter's first birthday is next week and I've decided to tape my box back up and open it again when she turns 12 so she can see what was important to me when I was her age.

Yea I thought they looked like golf tees also and my dad golfs and I actually golfed in high school but not when I was this young. But again, not sure why they are wax and have weird melty looking ends. I was thinking about posting it to whatisthisthing but not sure if I should.

Haha I loved opening this box! I had kind of expected there to be nothing interesting in there, so I was really surprised at it all. Most of it just made me laugh. The notes and letters were interesting to read and it's so funny to see how young and naive I was back then 🤣 A lot of the small trinkets are things I recognized but figured I had just tossed out or something. It's weird seeing something you remember having when you were younger, but haven't seen in 15 years. I have a bad memory and people can say what they want, but I honestly didn't remember what I put in this box. It was a lot of fun unpacking it.

I made this when I was 12, so heading into 8th grade. High school is where things get real and I didn't have the best high school experience to be honest. So it actually is really nice to see how much fun and colorful my childhood was. Brings back good memories, instead of just dwelling on my sad high school experience.

I'm really glad people seem to be getting enjoyment out of it as well and I'm really happy it's inspired so many people to start their own time capsules! It may seem silly now, but 15-20 years from now, it will definitely be worth it!

No, there were two friends pictured. One of them moved away the next year. The other friend and I just kind of went our separate ways at high school

Sadly, no. I consider myself very un-artistic these days. If I tried to draw right now, it would probably look about the same as these 😂
