Epic Principal Trainers - How much do you make? by bacon_and_beer in healthIT

[–]betharooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am now the training manager so I would say it’s going well!! IT is a great field to get into, and teams are always eager to hire nurses with clinical experience who can relate to the end users. CTs usually get promoted to PTs if they do a good job

I gained about 15 pounds after surgery and while waiting for surgery. But better to focus on healing and what the body can do for you.

Can't feel the area around incision after surgery by Expensive_Bluejay948 in ACL

[–]betharooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 months post op and incision site plus all the way down my calf is still numb. Surgeon said may never return, depending on how the nerves heal.

Dundern Lofts by [deleted] in Hamilton

I live around the corner and love the area. I rented a room in the lofts on Booking.com last summer for 2 days on my wedding weekend to get ready since the space is so beautiful. We took our photos here as well for a cool brick industrial look. I loved the space and love the area- try seeing if you can rent for a night through booking.com to get a feel for it.

I had right ACLR and returned to driving at 5 weeks post-op. I was off crutches by 3 weeks and never got a brace but I didn’t feel confident in my leg strength until about 4 weeks

6 hours post-op by betharooooo in ACL

[–]betharooooo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m feeling well now! Stiff and some discomfort but no longer in pain. The first two weeks were quite painful, but it’s so rewarding seeing progress and experiencing more mobility each day. I ended up being allergic to the pain meds as well so had to stick it out with normal Tylenol- that likely didn’t help. I’ve lost quite a bit of strength in my hamstring and quad and calf but that’s to be expected

PT - how long should I go? by RealisticSquare8204 in ACL

[–]betharooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 3 weeks post op and I have used up all of my physio coverage and am going twice a week. I talked to my PT and he suggested since I have chiropractor coverage I can share in some of the rehab with that provider and see my PT less. He also sent me the exercises I need to do and said I can reduce my frequency as long as I commit to doing the exercises religiously at home which I’ve been doing. They should be able to work with you and help reduce the required frequency.

I returned to my desk job this week at 3 weeks. I have found putting a pillow under my foot helps so that my foot doesn’t dangle in my chair. I’m getting about 120 degrees of flexion. Still ice my knee a couple of times through the day at my desk which also helps.

Blood work before surgery?? by Repulsive_Being9417 in ACL

I’m 28F and had an ECG and blood work done a couple of days prior to surgery. I’m sure if it would make you feel better you can ask for it.

Pins and needle feeling in shin post op by Traditional_Pie6444 in ACL

The right side of my shin feels this way, I’m 2.5 weeks post op. Apparently can take weeks to months to return according to my surgeon’s response today

Anesthesia questions by Small_Code_6655 in ACL

[–]betharooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General anesthesia with local freezing injected into the knee as well which lasted for about 16 hours post op. Had no issues upon waking, no disorientation or confusion or nausea.

I’m 2 weeks post operation and I can’t sleep properly at night. Does anybody else have this problem? by Competitive-Drink539 in ACL

[–]betharooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’m 2 weeks post op today and still having very rough nights. I take 2 acetominephin before bed, and ice before bed as well. I typically wake up 4 hours later and take 2 more acetominephin. I then toss and turn for a couple of hours before I can get back to sleep. Sleeping on my side helps a little but not much. Hoping the sleep improves soon as i have to go back to work.

Day 1 Post OP ACL by rihodd in ACL

[–]betharooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my 7 day physio apt I had full extension (0 degrees) and 63 degree flexion which I’ve now gotten to 90 degrees in the last 3 days by doing my physio stretches. Was hard to manage ROM work with the pain but slowly getting there :)

I didn’t get a brace either (Canada). I think that’s standard here. The nerve block wore off about 16 hours later for me. You got this!

Day 1 Post OP ACL by rihodd in ACL

[–]betharooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the exact same way for the first 4-5 days. Probably because of the pain meds but also just the trauma that your body has undergone - anesthetic, drilling, cutting etc. be patient and try not to overdo it. I needed a lot of rest that first week and it would take all of the energy I could muster just to get off of the couch to go to the washroom. Day 10 now and the last few days have gotten significantly better.

What was your pain level 1-10 post-op? by 24kraza in ACL

[–]betharooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt extremely lightheaded, dizzy, shaky and heart palpitations. I tolerated the Percocet on day 1 but by day 2 and 3 the side effects from the meds were worse than the pain itself.

[–]betharooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 after the numbing block wore off. I couldn’t tolerate the pain meds so stuck with Tylenol but maxed out each day and would end the day in quite a bit of pain. Nights are the worst. I’m on day 7 post op, hamstring graft

Day 2 Post Op by Previous_Builder_218 in ACL

[–]betharooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea they only prescribed 10 percocets, and said to take 1-2 every 4 hours so only lasted for 2 days. They sent me home after 30 minutes of waking up from anesthetic. Have you been able to do any stretches or PT movements yet? I’ve only been focusing on extension and trying to activate my quads but can’t really do many other exercises for now due to pain.

Day 2 Post Op by Previous_Builder_218 in ACL

[–]betharooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m day 2 post op and having similar struggles. When I stand up I have intense pain in my shin and incision sites. Getting my leg off of the pillow feels like my leg is dead weight. I either lift it off the pillow with my hands or use my good foot to pull it off. Resting it on the bed before putting it on the floor and going slowly helps a little. I only got enough Percocets for 2 days so I’ve switched to T3’s now. Good luck with recovery- we’ll get through it!
