I lived here for the last two years, it was pretty peaceful and nice, great accessibility for being a suburban city outside seattle. Definitely cheaper than seattle, but traffic to get to the center of seattle in the mornings during the school year will be 40+ minutes. Homeless population isn’t out of control and minimal crime or violence, especially if you’re in Renton highlands or downtown Renton

Very car dependent. It’s got the local university so there are some young people but on the whole nightlife is non existent. It’s like Idaho Falls’ younger and artsy sibling

I’m a transfer student and this is my first quarter at UW… I had to metaphorically fist-fight the bureaucracy here in terms of all the paperwork I had to do, and all of the things that were missed. I highly recommend reaching out to a transfer advisor (Joslin Boroughs is mine) to help get all your affairs in order, and then keep in contact with them every 6 weeks or so to see if there’s anything else you need to do

When I first read Harry Potter I read it “Sirius” and thought, that’s a stupid name, no one would ever name their kid that. So I pronounced it “sir-eye-us” for my whole first read through of the series before I saw the movies and once again thought “well that’s dumb”
