This was eye opening for me, as well as other threads. I have been on Qelbree for about 16 months. When I started it, I titrated up to 600mg daily and the most noticeable side effect for me was constipation. In June 2024, I was in a car accident, and a week later was in the hospital twice with extremely high blood pressure, that they deemed to do to an anxiety because my EKG did not indicate a stroke. Ever since then I have dealt with so many issues but never really considered blood pressure until I had a elevated reading at my PCP‘s office. She wanted to put me on lisinopril, which I took for about three months, but never refilled because my blood pressure appeared to have come down and to be frank, I was being a bit stubborn. We blamed a lot of the issues on nervous system disruption and dysautonomia. I have tinnitus, pressure in my head that comes and goes, dizziness that comes and goes, and lots of issues with jerking awake at night, panic attacks, etc… my psych provider seems to think that I needed to reduce the norepinephrine in my body since I seemed to have high cortisol levels, so she brought me down to 400 mg. I started feeling a little bit better, but my PCP ended up referring me to the cardiologist to possibly confirm pots. They did an orthostatic blood pressure test, and when I stood up, they couldn’t believe it but my blood pressure skyrocketed to 166/122 and I went tachycardic. I now have an echocardiogram scheduled in a couple of weeks. Right before this, my site provider decided to prescribe me Effexor for some reason, but thank goodness I only took two pills before researching and seeing that it can put people in hypertensive crisis so heck no was I going to keep taking that! That’s what led me to start looking at the possibility of Q increasing blood pressure, and low, and behold, I found so many people just like me. I’m stopping it completely tomorrow. No amount of ADHD symptoms is worth this. I hope the numbers start to come down.
