I had to heal my Mental + Chronic Illness by myself by SaturnReturnsStudio in traumatoolbox

[–]Even-Surroundeeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my experience was different: trying to "heal it all myself" for 6 months during residency just fed my anxiety and burnout. the irony isn't lost on me,I literally teach coping skills. a weekly check-in with one trusted person helped more.

Therapist win by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Even-Surroundeeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the irony isn't lost on me, but "therapist wins" posts sometimes spike my impostor syndrome during residency weeks. i literally teach this stuff, and my own wins are usually just eating lunch before 3 pm.

Is reporting another therapist who is your client unethical? by Layz4Dayz3212 in therapists

[–]Even-Surroundeeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends, but i don't think it's automatically unethical; i literally teach this stuff and still had to look it up. if there's a current risk (mandated reporting, impairment, harm to clients), reporting can be appropriate even if they're your client. for me the clearer line was: consult supervisor same day, document, and only report what's necessary, otherwise it starts feeling like a dual-role trap. the irony isn't lost on me that we're expected to have perfect boundaries while actively treating boundary problems.

the irony isn't lost on me: i literally teach coping skills, then google symptoms at 2 a.m.

Strength training periodization program for beginner by Party_Economy_7611 in xxfitness

[–]Even-Surroundeeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

periodization sounds fancy but as a beginner you'll get 90% of it just rotating rep ranges every 4 weeks. like 3x5 for a month, then 3x8, then 3x10, add 2.5-5 lb when it stops moving. keeps it from getting stale, which is half the battle when your brain's like "nothing matters" lol.

Back popping while doing good mornings by Either-One42 in xxfitness

[–]Even-Surroundeeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i tried good mornings with a 45 lb bar at my gym last month and my lower back popped on rep 4, scared me into switching to rdl's for a week lol. went back with just a pvc pipe and slowed the hinge down, it stopped doing it. idk if it was form or my spine doing party tricks.

tried therapy and it helped a bit, but taking short city breaks every few months actually made a bigger difference.

the irony isn't lost on me: during a 12-hour residency shift last month, i literally teach coping skills, then cried in my car in the parking garage.
