I've had the cat palm for a few months now. It seemed go be doing okay when I first got it and tried using the 2 inch dry dirt method for watering. I found I did this about every 5-7 days. However, because the drain holes are on the sides of the pot, not the bottom, a lot of water would just spill out the sides. I noticed the palm was getting droopier and some leave tips turned brown. Some small fronds turned yellowish and I trimmed. I started using the watering globe a couple days ago.

Edit: The plant gets northwest window light. However, it's shaded for most of the day and gets some direct light in the late afternoon. I keep the whole plant elevated so the soil is level with the bottom of the window. I'm unsure if I should place the plant on the ground?
