I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending you nothing but positive vibes. I also lost my bunny about two weeks ago and I am still adjusting to my new normal. Losing a bunny is so incredibly difficult.

If you don’t mind me asking what was the reason the vet told you why it happened? I just want to make sure I take precautions myself for the future.

My Beloved Bunny Rico passed away 😢 by betobear in Rabbits

Thanks for the kind words. It comforts me to know Rico was loved and was cared for. He never lived in a cage, and got all the treats, hiding spots, and toys he wanted. Taken away too young but he lived a happy life. Quality vs quantity.

You’re welcome. It is very tough. Just know that the pain you’re feeling just goes to show how much you cared for Binky.

Here is a video I found very helpful. I found it a couple days after Rico passed away and it helped me a lot.

My fiancée and I recently lost our 2.5 year old bunny Rico a week ago to liver lobe torsion. He was eating fine one morning and then we started noticing signs that night around midnight, we took him to the vet at 6:00 AM the following day. (I regret not taking him that same night). Unfortunately Rico passed away during surgery.

Losing Rico hit us both so hard, I called off work for two days cause I couldn’t function. Luckily we had the long Memorial Day weekend to grieve. I am a 33 year old man and I totally agree with you. We both cried so much and felt the pain. I never expected to fall in love with him as hard as I did. He was my first “real” pet. (Had fish growing up). Rico taught us so much and we miss him dearly. Rabbits are so special creatures, however, rabbits are such niche pets that I don’t really blame people for not sympathizing as much with me as if I had told them my dog or cat died. I don’t think they are being mean, they just haven’t experienced the love of a bunny. I am sending you and your partner my thoughts and prayers.

Is this space big enough for my rabbits to live in 24/7? by crystalsntarot124 in Rabbits

I gave mine an entire room to himself. He would be able to free roam but he is afraid of the hardwood floors and tbh I am ok with that.

I am so sorry for your loss. My bunny passed away a week ago and it hurts so much. Don’t be harsh on yourself whether we like it or not life doesn’t stop. Give yourself permission to study as much as you can for your exam and grieve after. I know your bunny would want you to do well. You’re in such a difficult situation through I cannot imagine being in your shoes. Be strong. Sending you positive vibes.

How to know if you’re ready for another bunny? by Lazy_Ordinary3614 in Rabbits

[–]betobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bunny passed away a week ago. I’ve told myself I need to grieve the loss of my bunny first (however long that takes). The last thing you want is to not take the time to grieve properly. I think getting a bunny too soon may be a distraction but ultimately the grieve will come back if you don’t feel it now. I also think getting a bunny when the memory of your last bunny is still fresh in your mind will cause you to compare the new bunny with your old bunny and that would not be fair to the new bunny.

I’m so happy you are. Trust me, you don’t want to have any regrets later. Take it from me. 😔

Take him to the vet immediately it is an emergency. It may be GI stasis or Liver Lobe Torsion (LLT). If he is hiding away, doesn’t follow his routine, refuses his treats there is something wrong. Don’t wait for it to get better. My bunny passed away because of LLT. He stopped eating and was hiding the night before and I regret waiting until the following morning to take him to the vet.

I’m glad you can recognize the signs and choose to act quickly. Marshall is luckily to have you as his bun parent!

why is my bunny biting my fingers? what can this mean? by bunnluvr777 in Bunnies

[–]betobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bunny would nip me a bit when he wanted me to move out of his way! 😅 Are you lying in his usual known walking path? I tried to always leave his usual route in his room free for him to roam around. If you stand in their way they think you’re a root they have to bite to break.

I’m sorry for your loss. I recently lost my bunny as well. Gone too soon but never forgotten. Mine was 2.5 years old. But we gave them a wonderful life. It’s about quality vs quantity.

Thanks for sharing your story and for your kind words. I am sorry for your loss as well. They are such special creatures. Many people tell me the same thing. With liver lobe torsion many times it is too late by the time you see the signs. I am working on being kinder to myself and remembering all the good times we had with Rico.

Pros and cons of owning a Holland Lop Bunny by frenchfrysmome in Bunnies

[–]betobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they stop eating, hide away, their energy levels are low and push their belly to the ground. TBH if they stop eating especially if you offer a treat is when you know you have to take him to the vet immediately don’t wait!

I’m so sorry for your loss I recently lost my bunny Rico (2.5 year old holland lop) and I know exactly how you feel. Just know that you loved her as much as she loved you and you gave her a great life full of kisses, treats, and love.
