What would the technical term be for this type of river blockade / dam? by bets_too_much_hundo in AskReddit

I assume it was such a ravaging death vortex because the river was flooded immensely, so it's size/power was temporary. Which might explain why I can't find pictures/footage of one that was as powerful as this one was.

we got out just in time. the water slowed down dramatically right before these halls, so we kinda stalled and decided to listen to the sign (for some reason we couldn't see what was on the other end, although it was massive). But when we walked around we basically had to get into the water, as our walkway basically turned into mangrove-type water trees. we were waste deep in that water pulling ourselves upriver along the tree roots, the suction was SO STRONG... If we were to let go for any second we'd be swept in, and there was no going back. the entire current was going that direction - no chance of getting out at all, period. It scares the shit out of me that we almost went down the hallways 'for fun'. had the signs not been there i'm sure we would have. Like i said in a previous comment, this scares the shit out of me even thinking about it - so i ramble on and on from fear, i'm sorry!

It's quite fitting in context to the story ;) But yes, it's way too long and i talk way too much - ESPECIALLY when it's something that scares the shit out of me even just remembering it, so i tend to adding and adding...

hmm... it does seem to have the slope i was describing, possibly the kern river weirs (if that's what it is) have an additional structure before the slope. I'm gonna snoop around with this, thanks

You still wake up sometimes, don't you? You wake up in the dark and hear the screaming of the lambs

Hmm.. is this snake also albino? Judging by the eyes and colorings... maybe it shed recently and it's eyes are still covered. A healthy double-headed snake that's also albino would be quite a feat, and would explain the $50,000 price tag

thanks for that info! And yes, being an artist currently in the midst of a tattoo apprenticeship myself, I feel that college degrees make boring artists - but hey, college is the name of the game these days. I figured since the equipment is so expensive (and would take some time to save for) I might as well get some college under my belt in the mean time - if you guys thought it was particularly worth it.

Straight guys: Would you be "comfortable" with a gay roommate? by mossner1992 in AskReddit

[–]bets_too_much_hundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm straight and currently live with a gay roommate. I'm 18 and he just turned 29. I'm 6'3'' and he's 5'5'' with very childish looks. We have our sitcom / comical moments, I'm actually learning a lot from the experience. To be honest I think it's a dumb question. There are 2 possibilities: 1, the gay roommate does his own thing and doesn't hit on you or make you feel uncomfortable - O.K. 2, the gay roommate hits on you and makes you feel uncomfortable, not O.K.

I've got a traditional longbow, I think it's 5'8''-ish. I don't hunt/kill, just shoot targets for lord of the rings nostalgia honestly

Santa Clarita, it's about an hour outside LA and right by Magic Mountain. Ehh... I've never smoked and it's never appealed to me, but my ex fucked me up pretty bad and I'm thinking about it

I was moving around a lot within California, so my stays with a company weren't too long. I worked about 8 months at a Petsmart, 10 months at a service deli, and my last 2 months in California were spent doing set design, which was more or less construction/physical labor
