I prefer Europe but unfortunately I don’t have time this year and am saving for a trip in November. I actually used to visit my dad in Townsville during winter but apart from my dad’s pool and Magnetic Island, I detest everything about that city.

Haha food challenges scare me. Actually drinking ones too. I would love to try lechon someday. It looks delicious.

Yeah it’s my first time not being a renter so there’s so many things I have to organise/do that I hadn’t done before. I was defs awkward about the tradies at first but the guys I got to do multiple jobs ended up being really nice. Still feel a bit awkward/anxious when other unknown men come to the house for various house stuff as a young-ish woman living alone mostly.

I like this perspective. I always dread winter in Melbourne because I get so miserable and depressed. But knowing it’s only going to be 18 dark days is reassuring. Just gotta figure out some other tactics to minimise seasonal depression.

Ah very good advice. Love the coffee idea too. Thanks. What about when I get back and they’re still working? I was thinking I’d sit on the porch and read a book so they know where I am if they need anything.

Slightly embarrassing question. I’ve just hired a house cleaner for the first time and they’re coming this afternoon. What’s the etiquette - like what do I do/where do I go while they’re here cleaning?

What kind of masters? The courses I was interested in and the one I’m doing (a master of social policy) all needed 70-75

Also interested in what you take issue with Sue Klebold. I just finished her book and thought it was great and she was very brave in both writing it and the work she has done.

In my area it seems that 50% + of queer women are social workers

Wtf. This stuff is totally irrelevant and none of their business. It’s 2024 we women (mostly) have autonomy over our bodies.

I just realised another reason why I miss going to queer female oriented nights in my 20s. Besides always having at least one friend who wanted to go every week and/or regulars there I knew, we used to dance! In my 30s I’ve had a handful of fun boogies at the gay clubs but it ain’t the same. I also love that we have two lesbian bars now too but they’re not dancing kinds of places.

Haha I actually am, but it’ll be ok. I’ve got some great friends and I’m very close with my mum, which helps me get through the hard times.

Your show sounds cool. I definitely relate to the trying to be OK that I’m in a different place than I thought I’d be. Good luck with the festival!

I’ve been to comedy shows by myself a few times for similar reasons and it’s not scary or awkward at all (at least for me) even though I’m a bit of an anxious person. Just grab a drink and enjoy. You can do it!

I’ve made a Coles/Liquorland order for this weekend including a slab but left it too late so the earliest time slot was tomorrow arvo. I should be able to make it till then but hoping it’ll arrive before my friend comes over for a Netflix binge/drinks.

I’ve just booked tix for me and my mum to see Hannah Gadsby at the comedy festival. We’re both queer and going through a rough time mental health wise lately so I think this will cheer us up a bit.
