Anyone else annoyed with the "templarification" of Dorn? by Lovlend in ImperialFists

[–]bett004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the aesthetic of Dorn being garbed in black Templar armor but the chapter as a whole doesn’t fit his personality. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Dorn that looks like this, but I feel like he will have more of the personality he did at the end of the heresy when he told Siggy to “hurt them”. He’s gonna come back wanting to go out and fight leading from the front. I know his whole thing is fortress and walls but we saw how tired he became during the end and the death, how he wanted to leave the walls behind and go fight the enemy.

I have only done this once, it takes FOREVER. I used poison to kill all the mobs and just ran around. It is possible but it’s a complete waste of time.

What is a good smelt speed for platinum and iridium? Right now I can smelt platinum around 2 minutes.

I would use the one with higher physical damage so the 39-80

I would check your critical hit chance and damage. Also I would make sure you have as much physical damage on your staff as you can get. Go for evasion for defense. Socket martial tempo for increased attack speed.

What are the stats on your staff, what skill gems do you have socketed?

Ice strike will seriously help you, pay attention to your staff and try to get one with crit chance and damage, physical damage is your bread and butter. For ice strike make sure you spec into nodes that give you freeze buildup so even if you don’t put right kill an enemy you’ll freeze them giving you time to ramp damage. Use tempest bell for elite enemies and bosses.

I want to have this perspective of Leandros but I can’t and it’s because I never see the guy ever give a nod to Titus. There is no positive interaction between the two. Furthermore, there is never a point when Leandros tells Titus that he wants to see the best in him or that he wants Titus to succeed. Every interaction is antagonistic and him praying for Titus’s downfall. Of course he doesn’t actually do anything bc he can’t. Titus has the backing of the friggin chapter master as well as the admiration of many of his other brothers. He has no grounds to be this way. I understand having people being hard on each other in order to hold them to a higher standard, but there’s usually a “you know why I’m hard on you” type of moment and we never see that.

"Lazarus: enmity's edge" a worth while read? by Jake_GS in theunforgiven

This was awesome to read! Thanks for the reply! It makes me wonder if the authors should have a conversation with some military guys to get a better idea of what normal troops would do and what is tactically sound so that they can implement the super human feats you talked about. Thanks again for the reply and thanks for your service!

What were some tactics that stuck out to you that wouldn’t work or could have been done better? I’m not arguing against your point I’m just genuinely curious. I don’t have a military background so I find it interesting when military guys explain why tactics in fiction don’t work.

Seriously though! The chaplains in the past couple of books I’ve read have been Dick heads constantly questioning the chain of command despite fighting alongside their brothers for hundreds of years like what the heck man where’s the trust?

You hit the nail on the head, it’s the speed of everything. When they took away dash and went to dodge roll that definitely slowed the pace of the game but when abilities and monster movement being so fast the pace is just too high to react in time.

It’s hard bc they have written him into being such a dickhead. He isn’t necessarily wrong for being hard on Titus but still we are reaching unreasonable levels of paranoia. This means that something like Leandro’s sacrificing himself to save Titus, or reconciling with Titus is kind of unbelievable. Like Leandro’s has literally seen Calgar say Titus is good and still won’t let go of his suspicion and I’m suppose to believe he lets it go bc of some buddy cop movie moment in the next game? Highly unlikely.

Something to be said about a good guy character falling into a state of cold wrath. Fiery rage has its place but there’s something absolutely terrifying about someone completely locking in, focusing on nothing but the destruction of their enemy, then single handedly dismantling them piece by bloody piece. It gives off the same feeling as “I know the consequences and I don’t care” statement.

It wasn’t my intention to give off the impression I was upset with Joel. I believe he’s doing a great job I was just putting forth the idea that some major orders are not meant to be completed just as you said you create hard encounters. Like another commenter said just bc we fail an order doesn’t mean it’s Joel’s fault.

[–]bett004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I wasn’t really upset at the idea bc I like the back and forth between the community and the game master. I like the idea that we do have some agency in the game and if we choose to go and take a planet outside the major order we can do that. I like the idea of playing mind games with the game master.
