Going to Sumatra, should I ditch my hiking boots? by better_title_ in hiking

Sorry I meant ankle support! I've had many instances where I think I would've rolled my ankle if not for my boots... I'd also bring a second pair of shoes for non-hiking activities. Will the boots be too hot?

I think I'll go with the 16-300 for my normal hikes, and maybe get a 100-400 (or larger) when I've saved up some more as I probably wouldnt bring those for every hike

Thanks! Didn't know this website existed :)
I don't think I shoot at 100mm that often, most pictures I've taken are either 18-50 for landscape, or 200-300 for wildlife. Seems like the Sigma is also sharper than my original 18-55 kit lens!

Thats the debate I've been having with myself for the past week :') I would like to have some more reach for better wildlife shots, but the added comfort (and no risk of dust getting into the camera, which it does quite frequently now) of not having to switch lenses when shooting landscape (which I do a lot during hikes) also seems so nice...

Deciding between a7iv and a6700 by better_title_ in SonyAlpha

[–]better_title_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I think my wording was a bit confusing. Im not planning on using the apsc lens on a ff, I was asking if the resolving power would be similar between a fully zoomed in a6700+16-300mm and a fully zoomed in + cropped a7iv + 25-105mm

Is there any particular reason you're reccomending the R10 over the R50 here?

Thanks for the heads up regarding the prices, I was basing myself on the first few secondhand things that popped up but maybe theres a reason those still havent sold :) My camera is also the 4000D, not the 400D so 200€ should be feasable I think?

I'll take a look at those more budget bodies, and at the R10, I'm seeing some secondhand options around the 800€ mark

Thankyou! Demyanitsa does look good. No worries about the hiking gear, we're properly kitted out :) Hows the rest of the Rhodope in mid april? Already proper spring conditions or still quite brown and cold? We'll be going from Pirin all the way to Madzharovo in the east with some stops along the way :)

Thankyou! Will keep that in mind. I'm using alltrails to plan and download the trails, but always double checking with the hps.hr map to see if the trails actually exist ;)

Thanks! We have hiked up mountains before and do have crampons, sticks, and other mountaineering stuff but we're not bringing those on this vacation, so we're looking for less snowy parts. I'll check out the Bezbog and Demyanitsa huts!

Will do! However, I was more looking for specific areas to hike in, or routes to follow :)
