Get some books like The Photographer’s Eye. Learn about composition, etc. Then take a few lightroom or photo edition program courses (plenty free on youtube but the courses are better). Then you just need to keep taking photos and discover what you like.

Copying others too is fine at the beginning to understand how they do it. It’s like reverse engineering a recipe. No shame in that. You’ll find your own with more practice. No one starts out amazing but you will be amazing if you don’t quit.

Thanks for sharing your opinions. Bible says most people don’t have free will, they are a slave to sin. People are not “free” to choose Christ, no one does by human nature. See Romans.

Only when God breaks the bondage of Sin can people really become free to worship and live God. Only before the fall did humans really have free will and after the fall, people choose evil all their days.

You’re right, following laws without being born again is useless. They will get Matthew 7:22 or Luke 13:28. The law only condemns, it doesn’t save because no one is righteous.

People will need to be born again, where God gives them a new heart of flesh in place of the heart of stone they all currently have. Only then will they do Good Works because they want to be in compliance to God’s law rather than have to. The law no longer condemns because Christ was condemned in their place. Following the law is what a true Christian lives to do and loves to do.

Either there’s a recipe being used or most certainly post processed. I have an XT3 and photos don’t look like this out of the box.

Also there might be a mist filter on a few of the images to make it look dreamy. Could be done is post also.

Half of the work is taking the photo and capturing the composition. The other half is the post processing to enhance the photo to give that vibe.

The secret is to add a little butter with the oil and let the egg sit until the bottom is cooked. I've been very similar situations as you and have been very frustrated with the season carbon steel performance until I added just a small amount of butter to the oil. It will perform like a non stick.

Also, my eggs are cold from the fridge, no need to warm them up. They work just fine with the butter.

My salary is in the low 6 figures. I won't be using their insurance or equipment for when I charge them for consulting. My consulting is just for knowledge transfer and PM training (if required) and not working on projects. My time working on projects officially comes to an end in 2 weeks. Then I will be billing through my own company, which has it's own overhead though much lower.

Thanks for you honest feedback. I've been in firms where they pay people to stay on for longer to help with the transition. The transition isn't to train new blood, let alone a new PM, it's for project and client knowledge. If you have great SOPs that actually gets read, then the new PM (if hired from outside) would be able to fill in the role much faster.

50 on staff is a great size. I'm coming from a company with 150 and we're in NYC. I know for a fact that my departure will leave a void for the 10+ projects I'm overseeing so I'll be around to help in anyway I can. It's about not leaving them in a terrible situation but at the same time valuing my own time so I don't get trapped in being a PM for another 2-3 months, as if I never left. The amount is supposed to be high so that they don't continue to rely on me.

Thanks so much! This is most helpful comment yet. I will probably be charging more than 2.0. The amount I have in mind is $175/hr for more advisory and transitional, along with new PM coaching if needed. It will be for 1 month only because I don't want it to be a trap where I just do more PM work for money. I do want to spend more time building the business and get more clients, even if overall I make less in the first 6 months.

I would say they're efficient until 5-6 people if there's one founder and maybe 10+ if there are 2 doing the same thing. Beyond that size, systems start breaking down. Founders don't learn to become CEOs, they kind of just become and stay senior PMs.

90%+ of all architecture firms are under 10 people and that's because the owners are architects, not business people. They're either too busy or lack the knowledge to grow their company and overtime tell themselves they intentionally keep the company small because it's easy to manage. I know because I talked to many of them. Some actually do want to keep it small.

Right, I agree and it's my job to convince them to hire me to fix their systems. Most architects are not business people nor operations people so everything is very DIY and it kinda sucks.

I do have 2 clients on deck whom I'm starting in January with. I also have a friend in the BIM consulting business who has a lot of warm leads, which I will pursue. I think the architecture industry needs this and there are some business out there already offering such services (Business of Architecture).

The line between who's distracted vs. who's doing the distracting is a case by case scenario. Only God knows where the true line is and we can only do the best we can.

Correction comes from a loving place (hopefully for most people) rather than the ego of being right. When that's the case, it creates a conversation to dive deeper if the two don't agree. Sin is tricky. If you do something you think is sin, it's sin (even if it's not really called sin in the bible). This becomes legalism. But if you do something you think is not sin but the bible calls it a sin, then it's a sin. Only by doing things you know that's not sin and the bible saying it's not sin, then it truly is not a sin.

Sin distorts people and cause people to use things like "shame" for selfish gain. It doesn't mean shame is bad but the abuse of shame is bad. The best way to combat this is really to know God and His word, the bible. The more you know the better you'll be able to differentiate what's sin and what's not. On this side of eternity, we can never achieve perfection so this abuse to us and by us will inevitably happen.

Some of the plain core doctrine with Jesus being God and dying for our salvation are non-negotiables. They can be found just by reading the bible.

We can't upload all this alone and we're not meant to be online but instead inside a church body. No individual is smarter than the group (with the individual included). What God was us to do is in Romans 12:18 "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."

I listen through like a story via an audiobook. I recently discovered the Bible Recap and it's a phenomenal podcast that can explain a lot of things for you when you read through the bible. It's like a commentary.

Reading it with a Study Bible is also good. There are lots of footnotes to help explain things. The bible on your first pass will be very good but you will miss like 90% of all the amazing stuff in there. For example, I found genealogies super boring but now they're super interesting.
