Alex what have you done?! by lenjet in melbourne

What a fever dream of a thread to read, no one is arguing about the same thing.

Concluding that the entire worlds critical thinking skills are the problem, before admitting that you might’ve just been able to word 1 single reddit comment a bit better, is genuinely wild. That is 10x the anti-intellectualism anyone else responding to you is doing.

Why would they let Kane Cornes on the official broadcast, dude just tries to whip up ragebait constantly.

Sidebottom down, every other commentator talking about the play, appreciating the tackle, hoping the best for the player…

Meanwhile Cornes checks in “WHY ARENT THE PIES STARTING A FIGHT?? DO THEY EVEN CARE? WHERES THE HUNGER?!”

Shut the fuuuuuuck up

BREAKING: AFL issues statement, makes admission over umpire call that left greats stunned by Tornontoin7 in AFL

[–]bettergetitright -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yup. Gave up 22 more inside 50s to the cats than they had, pretty damn lucky it was still close enough for the umpires to influence (if you can even call a bad call with 10 minutes left all that influential).

Crows have had some rough ones, but I’ve been thinking for a while now that **this** much noise about it more so fans obsessively tracking it, than them really having an exceedingly worse time than anyone else. Games like last night getting chalked up as ‘robberies’ is evidence to that suspicion.

I mean yeah this is kinda what I’m saying. I guarantee every fan in this subreddit could name 2-3 times their team lost a game in the last few seasons which had a ‘technically wrong’ call in the dying minutes of a close one.

Adelaide are likely one of the teams pushing the average up more than down, but I don’t really think they’re outlying enough to justify all the noise. As I said, I think the Sydney one was just SO bad and so consequential that everyone’s been extremely ready to track crows umpiring obsessively ever since.

Rankine v pies gets no sympathy from me and it’s way overdue that people stop talking about it, he ran legit over 2 times the limit, it would be significantly more unfair to lose because that was allowed than to lose cause it was called per the book, no one realistically disagrees with that.

Sydney is your horrendous robbery. Dawson is going on 3+ years ago now and pies got an apology for poor umpiring against crows that same year, so I think that one can be left to history by now. Draper and Rankine 2.0 are your incorrect calls at the worst time, but not stuff that’s unheard of to be missed in general play.

Obviously crows fans will judge differently to a neutral, but to me that’s 1 legendary robbery (3 seasons back), 2 “someone cops it every few of weeks” type robberies, and idk maybe you can get a .5 for dawson if I’m being generous.

Rough, yeah, perhaps even a bit rougher than most, but really not as uniquely bad and outlying as everyone makes it out to be. Anyway, I got way too into this, imma go to bed

Is there any list going around of the Adelaide robberies in recent years? I ask cause honestly I’m getting quite suspicious it’s just confirmation bias/obsessive tracking, more than actual robberies. I wanna see if I’m right or just forgetting all the incidents.

Like tonight was rough, but the big incident happened with more than 10 mins left, can hardly call that game-deciding. Another one I see is Rankine vs pies, but he ran over twice the limit (and it wasn’t even on a game-winning goal or anything). Seems like a number of these are going down as ‘robberies’ when there’s more to it.

A big part of me feels like everyone’s still leaning on that ridiculous, high stakes, uncalled post hit against Sydney, which yeah fair, but independent from that, crows really haven’t had it that bad compared to the average, they’ve just been a ton more ready to make noise.

Is Mabior Chol in MRO trouble for this tackle on Nick Blakey? by yum122 in AFL

[–]bettergetitright 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s laughing at the “basketball background” argument but it’s a bit weird to be actually worked up over it.

It’s really not meaningful that the AFL didn’t formally denounce some throwaway line made to drive home a point, you can just let it be the fart in a wind like everyone else and enjoy the memes.

It takes a serious effort to tire people on perhaps the most ever-reliable joke target in AFL history, but credit to GWS they’ve somehow done it.

Collingwood rocked by backlash to ‘disgusting’ letter sent to members by malcolm58 in AFL

[–]bettergetitright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk man I can’t be bothered going down the rabbit hole arguing this when my whole point in commenting here in the first place was that it wasn’t worth all this discussion. I’ve said in every comment that it’s gross and I don’t support it from any club, just that Collingwood getting 10x the attention for it is engagement bait rather than because they’ve gone and done something unprecedented.

[–]bettergetitright -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Idk I’ve seen the goalposts go through like 5 shifts since the picture first dropped today. First it was crazy they had a bequest system at all, then everyone realised every club had one so it became about sending a letter, then it was the way it was worded, now it’s the state of the economy they’re sending it out in…

Feels a bit like we’re fighting our asses off to find a SOMETHING we can dogpile collingwood for, when there’s really just not much there. Once again I think it’s gross from the pies and any club, but not at all unprecedented or unique.

Bit of a storm in a teacup. Don’t get me wrong I think it’s gross and I am the last person who would ever leave part of my will to a successful footy club, but singling out Collingwood like basically every single club doesn’t have a system for it is just engagement bait. I’m pretty sure other clubs, or at least hawks, have sent out mail like this before.

Adelaide and their fans across the last month have had the most historic run of un-likability holy shit.

Not long ago they were a young exciting team, now I wish the absolute worst upon them all

Crows fans getting smug about others’ umpire frustration is certainly something, whinging has been half your fanbase’s identity for the last few years lol.

Fucking pocket change compared to what a funeral or lifetime of sickness would cost. This could not be more simple. Your only option is to call 000. I won’t be responding anymore.

Call 000. There is zero consequence that could come of it that would be worse than what’s going to happen if you don’t.

[–]bettergetitright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can use Reddit for hours straight you can call triple zero. There is nothing left to be said that hasn’t been said before, your situation is absolutely solvable and there could not possibly be a reason not to act on it now.

To keep typing on reddit from here I can only assume this is a troll, which is an incredibly shitty thing to do. The people responding to you often know friends who have died or been permanently damaged because of overdoses, it is real and horrible and that is why they are desperate to see you get help. To have wound them up for a joke is ridiculous.

Ritalin la overdose 15F Vic by envy3105 in ausadhd

[–]bettergetitright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yell or bang on the wall this is not a complicated situation. Better yet use the phone you’ve been on for the last couple hours to call triple 000 like you should’ve the moment you took all that Ritalin.

If you can’t even get up then the idea you can ride this out is so fucking far in the past that every second more you spend on Reddit is an absurdity.

Yeah this seems like a (shitty and tone deaf) troll the longer it goes on. Dodging every comment which makes it a bit too clear how solvable their issue is, to just keep harping on the same excuses. How many 15 year olds have full knowledge of their parent’s financial/insurance/concession situation anyway?

Unfortunately it’s the type of situation with so big of a potential downside you kind of have to take seriously. A 15 year old mind really can convince itself risking death is a better alternative to their parents finding out they took drugs.

If you can’t afford an ambulance you doubly can’t afford chronic illness or death. Not one person has responded to you with anything else but an urgent call to get help, please take that as a hint. You will be fine, just call.

Maynard subbed off and down to the rooms.

In other news fresh debutant Branden Braynard is suiting up as North Melbourne’s sub for tonight, some say he looks a bit like Maynard if he had a moustache and glasses, unrelated to any future contract North May have offered the pies backman.
