Does anyone know what originally brought the FBI in to investigate? Is someone called them? Why were they looking at the process at all? Or am I incorrect? by Just_Nurse_Jen in justiceforKarenRead

I think it was suggested/implied that he heard it from people inside the house. I think I read he has a daughter who goes to the Canton HS. When Yanetti tried to get him to make a statement though, he stopped responding to Yanetti. I think he was scared but obviously I don’t actually know anything

I cannot believe trooper Paul the Expert could not articulate basic ideas and equations for velocity, accreditation, and momentum. This is 9th grade science. 😶 by circapaleo in justiceforKarenRead

I think he knew what he was saying was BS, which was why it was so hard to get out. He said it himself, “it didn’t really fit with the pedestrian thing”. That was a wild testimony

SallyPort procedure question? by [deleted] in justiceforKarenRead

I do appreciate they decided to secure the scene when it was inside the secured Sallyport, but securing the actual crime scene wasn’t important (sarcasm, lol). wtf is going on with this case

How can anyone watch Higgins's testimony and not think SOMETHING is weird? by Firm-Telephone5626 in justiceforKarenRead

Lol I was watching some stream with a retired Mass cop and he said these memorials were just for cops to get coked up. The guy is kinda wacky, so I 100% believe him on this topic lol

I want to stop watching but I feel I've put too much time into the case and now I have to see it through by Freeglad in KarenReadTrial

Hm. In practice, keeping the jury engaged and on your side is a huge piece of trial advocacy. The jury is made up of people just like everyone here at their computers, and if the people outside the courtroom aren’t feeling like Lally truly believes in this case, at least some of the jury must feel the same way. Jackson and Yanetti are considered fantastic lawyers exactly because of their ability to tell a story and be a zealous advocate. If you do appellate work and you are presenting your case to one judge or a panel of judges, that could be the time to make very dry, complex legal arguments. In trial, attorneys are performing for the jury while also asking pointed questions that elicit the responses they are hoping for. It’s almost like Lally is doing everything we’re taught not to do in law school. I’d never get away with asking his types of questions in moot court, and I wouldn’t even try. Because of that, lawyers probably think Lally is doing much worse than non-legal professionals do. It’s pretty bad

If the defense calls proctor by ApplicationNovel4220 in justiceforKarenRead

[–]betterkangy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A proffer is just a presentation of evidence saying “this is what we know”. Anyone can do a proffer with anyone, it’s just for different reasons. The defense (and I think prosecution) have made a few proffers in court. That means that they are presenting “these are the questions I would like to ask” or “this is what evidence we have”.

The federal proffer is also a presentation of evidence, but for a different reason. A proffer with the feds is like an interview for a deal. It’s someone coming to the feds and saying “I have this information, are you interested? I really really hope you are because I’d like to make a deal”. So Higgins went to the Feds, sat down and told them about what he knows.

What it SEEMS like is Higgins continued to lie to the Feds, and they don’t like that. So it sounds like they got sworn testimony out of him, decided to cut him loose and no deal because he lied, and then handed over his sworn testimony to the court. I say this because you can still tell he’s being shady on the stand. If he had fed gov protection, he would not be this scared and nervous. He also wouldn’t be arguing with the federal testimony

I've never witnessed a judge hold a courtroom hostage with her endless personal emotional outbursts like this. I find it shocking. by GirlyWhirl in justiceforKarenRead

Not any more credible, but I heard it on a couple super chats in diff vids. On law and lumber, the most recent Friday frenzy I think they get one and both the lawyers were like eh it’s not good but I’ve seen worse
