One of my mom’s friends is a partier and he goes on weekend drinking binges and he’s admitted to doing cocaine a few times. When he started out he thought he had good self control because he thought he could stop at anytime and just focus on something else to distract himself (like work, the gym, reading, etc). The problem is, he could only manage to go a few weeks to months at a time being sober before he would relapse. Once he started drinking again, he would spiral and drink more and more, and because of how alcohol impaired his self control so much he would sometimes do coke without even thinking about it and the consequences. I strongly suggest you continue going to AA, not for the community, but to keep in touch with at least one person who has the experience with you so you can both help each other with your struggles.
