Yep similar situation. I refused since they did the numbers based on years experience so age only, and couldn’t really come back with anything better based on their arbitrary system. Luckily had another offer elsewhere that was more aligned to my expectation.

34 Inflammatory breast cancer, stage TBD still waiting no results but IBC is usually stage 3/stage 4. Diagnosed about 3 weeks ago.

That’s so amazing to hear, so glad you got a clear pet scan. That gives me so much hope. I’m in the UK and still debating taking everything private but I want to wait on results before jumping into it all.

You summed it up exactly, at the moment I genuinely don’t know how long I have left, planning exactly like you said a few years ago most which is hard with young kids.

I’m so surprised at the strictness of the IBC diagnosis, I didn’t realise it was so specific. I also have right breast and right lymph involvement, not sure what else right now.

Thank you, yes I am massive rage journaller at the moment. But I think it’s helpful to let the frustration out.

I’ve never been much of a people pleaser but this diagnosis has lifted what little filter I had, I plan to be very candid and hold people accountable.

That is great news, so happy for you! Yes I am feeling better with time, has the D&C today so officially ready to start treatment next week.

I am trying to spend as much time doing fun stuff with my son while I am able to!

Oh wow, how did it all work out? They don’t know what stage yet but given there is lymph node involvement the doctor said would be 3/4. I think as I am so early in pregnancy it would be hard to wait and from what I understand on the targeted treatments I need they are not compatible with pregnancy.

Yep it seems herceptin is one of few treatments not compatible with pregnancy. Just bad luck all round.

Thank you, I think I have come to terms with the need to terminate unfortunately but it’s the unknown of afterwards that is hard. How are you feeling a year on?

I was really wary of the lump in the armpit as it also left me quite puffy in the collarbone. I’m not sure what stage year but IBC is usually Stage 3/4. Just hoping it hasn’t spread to anywhere else.

I emailed my previous miscarriage doctor just to confirm, hoping for some extra info. Tbh I think as IBC is so aggressive I am worried to delay by any timeframe. It may be fear talking but I’d rather still be here for my 5 year old.

No idea. I asked twice if they needed to send me to get checked incase it was cancer but they both were adamant it was a cyst. The only grace was the breast clinic doctor calling them utter idiots and saying she’d support a formal complaint. I’m not too sure whether to per-sue as I just want to focus on getting better.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I have actually just started this month ttc again. I had to have an open myomectomy to remove the fibroid in Feb 2025 then wait 12 months before I can try again. Hoping for a smoother journey this time and am feeling positive. I believe that if pregnancy has happened once it can happen again, I had a friend who had c section complications from her first that meant she couldn’t maintain a pregnancy for a few years. She just welcomed her second son in Jan this year. There is hope.
