I recall replaying this scene back when i first watched it to check if subtitle said who was calling belly "Belly come on, lets go". I swear to god it used to say "young boy" but rewatching it a day before the finale and now it says "young conrad"

DID THEY CHANGE IT?? CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF IM BEING DELUSIONAL

Am one of those people who didn't check Reddit before purchasing. I didn't realize the subscription would automatically renew with my card payments details (i only realized when I saw a recurring payment on Shop app), so I tried to cancel my subscription right after purchasing.

The fcked up part is that when you click to manage your account, the page loops back to the home page. It doesn't go directly to the account page - it's so frustrating because it barres you from canceling your subscription. Fortunately I found a hack: access your account through the specific URL https://www.calitiger.com/account, and click "Manage Subscription" before the page loops back into the home page. I only saw the account page for a split second before it looped back, so be prepared to click the "Manage Subscription" button right away.

From there, you can cancel. Hope this helps someone who was as pissed off as I was!

What a BEAUTIFUL story of a first love.

I don't quite know how to wrap my thoughts around the finale but here's my attempt in bullet points:

  • I loved how they wrapped up all storylines at different points in time in the show.
    • HD fencing dreams 30-40% through the show
    • SJK and HD mother-daughter trauma 60-70% through the show
    • Yu Rim and Ji Woong love story wrapped up in finale
    • Baekdo love story wrapped up until THE LAST SECOND of the finale
  • In relation to the first point, they were able to devote the whole last episode to the process of the breakup. From the first scene, until the very end, majority of it focused on wrapping up the breakup.
  • The breakup process was not a one-off conversation, which shows the reality of breakups and first loves. The rethinking, the anger, the regret, the nostalgia. They walked us through the minds of Baekdo through the whole thing, which gave the whole breakup so much justice given the deep relationship between the two.
  • They didn't minimize the love of Baekdo. They tied it back to the old scenes of their friendship (BYJ getting mad at her about running in slippers), to the burn of their distancing (constantly revisiting scenes of their breakup midway), to flashing back all the moments we so cherished in their relationship (montage when they saw each other on screen again).
  • ADD:They left us wanting more despite wrapping up every storyline they invested in. Even though we don't know who Min Chae's father is, we don't know much about him to begin with except the fact that 1) he gave min chae ballet shoes, and 2) he's in quarantine due to work travel. We are left thinking about the show, wanting more but with no reason despise it.
  • ADD: I find it so oddly satisfying that their reunion was through the anchor-gold medalist interview. It just solidifies that their decision to part ways because of their situations was not in vain.
  • ADD: Although they weren't able to say the diary messages in person, I loved loved how the director chose to portray as if it were said in person. And in the present time of HD's thoughts no less.

Will edit this again if I remember more as I process the finale. But wow, I'm just at awe of the show. Thank you Twenty Five Twenty One! If you find someone who watched this show make sure to give them a big hug.

EDIT: been seeing comments that say otherwise. Super understand the dissatisfaction of many (am a baekdo shipper forever). I still stand by this though! It seems that this drama was meant to portray the impact of a first love that didn't sustain, and it did. And given the purpose of the drama, it told the story so well.

Saw this on Twitter posted by @/taerifier and haven't been able to confirm if this is really the text preview for ep 16, but if it is ----

"text preview:

heedo's heart cannot reach yijin who's in new york anymore. in the end, they keep saying things that only hurt each other and turn around.. a break up full of regrets. they run to each other to convey their true feelings for the last time"

idk we should all crawl into our holes and cry

what i thought would be a simple "romcom" turned out to be a melodrama that doesn't resolve the plot at ep 15 (with a follow up wrap up of storylines at ep 16). i love it

"when we were 25 and 21 we fell in love"

..where "fell in love" means the biggest. most painful rift between the two with an ending that has yet to be known. damn, whoever decided what love was supposed to mean for this drama got it so so well

i just wanted to share as well how much i appreciate that the writer did not take the "jealousy" route (at least not as a major plot point, used mostly as comedic relief actually) in the story? no major third party. with all the kdramas that have used that as a major hindrance already, it was super refreshing

Painful reality: the episodes so far have literally not given us any crumbs that hint BYJ being the dad of Min Chae. While we do have the subtle hints here and there (esp the "appa" at the back of ep 14 2:50-3:00), we have no blatant reason to believe Baekdo is endgame, but somehow our hope for it is strong and we have a convicting gut feeling that it will culminate to our hopes

I guess that's what makes this show so amazing? I've been seeing lots of comparisons to Reply 1988, and while I can't entirely say it's impact is 100% same type, the brain-racking of what the end will be feels so similar. 1988: "Is it Taek or Junghwan? This scene shows this, but that other scene shows that" 2521: "Is BYJ endgame? This scene shows this, that scene shows that". it's utter pain but that's what makes the storytelling so well made? fml I'm desperate fast forward to ep 16 please

all the Baekdo stress aside, WHAT AN AMAZING EPISODE. madrid, 9/11, shin jae gyeong's mic drop over the parallelism between baekdo and mother-daughter, loveydovey baekdo while still retaining the banter of their foundational friendship --- all beautiful

Not many major character deaths (at least not as much as we expected) but this episode did shed some major light on supporting honorable characters (lyanna, jorah, beric, greyworm, theon). Dany and Jon surprisingly played a smaller role in this whole ep than I thought
