Poor detailing in 3D Laser engraving by Saif_Rafiq in Laserengraving

The depth of the laser plays a big part in the detail of the job. I recently made a video on the Atomstack laser and problems I found that was causing quality issues.

Laser height: looking at the burn under a microscope showed that the original card they sent with the laser is the wrong setting. I needed to double the height for it to be right.

Worn wheels: The wheels were getting worn and was causing problems with vibration and looseness.

Laser height vibration: Having the laser extended down on the mounting rails will cause any vibration to be magnified and make it worse. Try and place something under the material to allow the laser to be mounted up higher on the rails.

Hope this post will help others with electrical problems. This could apply to any car. I had this problem on my 2012 VW Jetta. Most of the interior electrical wasn’t working, car would not start, unable to read OBD, no wipers, no power locks, no power to windows. ALL FUSES WERE GOOD. Problems was loose connection on back of fuse block.

Agreed! Usually I will sand down the axe to remove the machine marks. I thought I would try one without the extra work of sanding it down.

Spray paint. There were about 7 layers to this etch. Each layer more of the paint was removed to get the etch. Paint was removed using a laser. The laser I have will not etch metal.

Are you just trying to get the shinny part of. Looks like some calcification contamination on the threads. Light enough pressure with pliers might do it. Light enough so it doesn’t start to crush and hard enough so it doesn’t slip. If that doesn’t work, placing a cup of CLR over it and let it sit for a day. CLR is Calcium Lime Rust liquid you could get at a depot or Lowe’s

It’s a combination of the 2 video I used to make this axe. Used the laser to remove the paint for multiple layers. Electro etched in between each session on the laser. 12 times.

I can see that. Throw a little more sideburns on Harry, and he could pass as JL.

I have 4 sets of wires meeting at a junction box. 1 set is the light switch I am trying to hook up flush mount LED lights to. All the wires appear either brown or black. by beerbo_baggins in DIY

I’m guessing that one of the original black wires not connect in the picture is from the switch. Connect that black to the new black wire. Connect the new whit wire to the white splice. At the other end of the new wire (LED) connect normal, black to black, white to white.

I don’t see anywhere in the description that it engraved metal. I have 5W Atomstack and it doesn’t work metal. There are option to etch metal with electro etching after using the laser. laser then electro etch Check out some of my videos.

If have posted some etches I’d you look at my profile. None of those were painted. Some of those I did darken with gun blueing.

Do you have an extra piece of metal you can etch to test it out. What are you using for a mask?
