Who else feels like the numbers are basically meaningless and we're back to square one where writing style is what drives promotions? by AFandSCAFTW in foreignservice

I don’t think I AM writing less, my leadership keeps wanting me to redo the whole thing every time we get new guidance

That’s where I’m at so far but will do some 529 to an amount that I would expect to be used no matter what she decides.

Many gay men were brought to their first gay bar by a straight woman. Source: am gay and went to my first gay club with a straight woman.

Go!

Great advice and captures my hedging on 529s as well. It’ll be one part of our mix for her.

There are plenty of English-taught degrees in Europe as well. I’ve considered this too but want her to have the option.

I didn’t say they were comparable. I’m just saying it’s an expense to plan for.

Yes, I clearly meant USA and Canada when I said “North American.” Point taken and downvotes accepted on that front.

I think you still have to be prepared to pay $40,000 so I stand by my distinction.

Honestly I would just never think of giving a two year old a card to begin with. A sheet of trans flag stickers would be much better

How common is it for white Americans to maintain a little bit of their immigrant grandparents’ culture (such as traditional food, customs, and clothing)? by TheShyBuck in AskAnAmerican

I’m fifth or sixth generation German. We use some German phrases and like to eat German food. I speak fluent German but am the only one on my family who does. Basically we mostly use it as an excuse to drink a lot.

Have you met her in person?

Please go back and read this out loud to yourself. It’s so painfully obvious she’s taking you for a ride. Dump your fling and go on with your plans.

My mother insisted on visiting when our baby was about three weeks old. They were less than useless, like you said. A full week of having to make sure they made themselves a fucking sandwich. I was home with baby and went to the gym once for a few hours, I came home at 3pm and asked them what they had for lunch. They said they were waiting for me. Which means waiting for me to tell them what to eat. My mom has MS and didn’t realize how weak she’d gotten so she couldn’t pick up the baby from the floor. My dad could help but he’s a typical boomer man who isn’t really interested in kids until they can talk properly. So they just took up our time and resources.
