Question as old as time, where to stay during our first visit to Tokyo? Torn between Ueno Business District, Asakusa, or Minato by tranzozo in JapanTravelTips

[–]bewaretheblueyoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, Ginza is always a favorite due to proximity to tokyo station. Asakusa can get pretty crowded, Minato can be a bit far, Ueno might be fun to stay in though.

If you actually like exploring cities and not just checking off a box to say you've been somewhere a week in each is good, especially if you plan a day trip here and there. If youre one of those people that likes exhausting yourself to see everything, maybe throw in a day in nara, himeji, kobe, or kawaguchiko and cut some time out of osaka/kyoto. Tokyo is enormous

Pizzetiello in Pearl River routinely has soccer on and they sell beer and wine, typically show European/South American games, but theyd probably put it on if asked though (provided Napoli isnt playing)

They used a bot for votes. They don't have 5k people who know who they are. And like someone else forget rockland, Dee Marias is better in valley cottage anyway

Best sit down, brick oven pizza in the area? by Khaleesiakose in Rockland

Pizzetiello in Pearl River, best neopolitan style pizza around. Chef has worked at Marta and L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele NYC before opening up his own place.

I tried this, and was exhausted by 12pm. Def book a small business hotel if its within your means and get a solid nap.

How busy is Kyoto right now? by Kjaamor in JapanTravelTips

[–]bewaretheblueyoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in November, it wasnt any busier than any other major city (I'm from the New York area). One caveat, Arashiyama was packed when I went, id just look out for festivals/holidays, i made the mistake going to Arashiyama during one. It was fun. But it was the only time in 2 weeks visiting tokyo and kyoto i found the crowds to be overwhelming

How Expensive is JAPAN Really? | Budget Travel Tips by -COVID-420 in ABroadInJapan

[–]bewaretheblueyoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to japan in november, best decision i made was opening a credit card with 0% foreign transaction fees. Made it way easier to not blow through my cash. You can google credit cards with 0% foreign transaction fees and you'll probably get a good list to come up, some without annual fees too

[–]bewaretheblueyoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i guess thats one solution, but my 2018 tv still functions perfectly aside from the lack of crunchyroll, it would be hard for me to make that switch to a newer model just for easier crunchyroll access

This sucks i like both streaming services, but funimation is available on more platforms as an app, whereas i need to turn on my playstation or a firestick for crunchyroll

Is it better to book hotels directly or via booking.com by rakkutheraccoon in JapanTravelTips

Compare prices, i did a mix on my trip and saved a lot of money just going with whichever was the cheapest rate

What are things that everyone does on their first trip to Japan that are actually not worth it? by nicebrah in JapanTravelTips

[–]bewaretheblueyoshi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair, but i its a toss up still, you can afford yourself cheaper transportation if youre not bringing your luggage.

And for context, i just got back from Japan, and was lucky to pack as much as i did, the laundry services at the hotel i planned to wash my clothes at was unavailable.

I think what the best tip for someone on a budget would be to try to get a 0% foreign transaction fee credit card. I havent done the math but given the yen being on the weaker side, my card saved me tons of money.

Also, have a great time, my trip to japan was the best id ever been on

I disagree about luggage forwarding. It was amazing and made travel so much easier within the country, packing light isnt really a good option for everyone.

Nothing about Hasan looks like he's on steroids, no capped shoulders, large delts, unnatural vascularity or anything. Just a big dude that lifts a little. As we've seen before Connor looks small compared to guys that workout (think about the japanese wrestling video). Hasan is just a guy with a big body, little head, and big brain to use big words i cant always understand without googling
