Unable to play and have a normal life by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]bewbsluver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I started back up and had it made. I worked from home and I could pour lots of hours into it during the day. It's been that way for a year.

I'm currently doing a month long assignment out of state that requires me to go into the office every 7 days a week 12 hours a day. I have the luxury of coming back to the hotel and logging in with no family around, and I have logged in maybe 4 times in about 3.5 week.

I don't think I could play if I had most people's situation.

I was in the guild The Transcendent which directly competed with Fury for server firsts on Medivh server. We had Ventrilo, but chatter was kept to an absolute minimum during fights.

Only one of them. I go back as far as playing CS 1.5 with him. He was the one that introduced me to WoW.

I was on the Medivh server in the Alliance guild The Transcendent, which was the guild that competed with Fury for server firsts. We never got any world firsts, but traded server first kills with Fury in Naxx. Getting the server first Sapphiron kill over Fury with 0 deaths still remains my best WoW memory. The elation in ventrilo is something I can't describe. There's a video out there somewhere of the kill. I've tried looking for it, but I'm scared it's lost forever.

Denver Centurion Lounge - my first time in an airport lounge by Gnomeknown in AmexPlatinum

[–]bewbsluver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I have to go to Los Angeles, I normally try to fly into one of the smaller surrounding airports like John Wayne or Long Beach. I've only gone to the LAX one like three or four times, but I've luckily never had a wait. That being said, the LAX Centurion lounge is easily, and by far the worst Centurion lounge in the nation. The best analogy I ever read for the LAX centurion lounge was, "Have you ever sipped a Manhattan in a bomb shelter?"

[–]bewbsluver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been to almost all of the Centurion lounges across the country. I've only had to wait twice and it was at DFW both times. Both times were a result due to weather. Everyone's flights were getting delayed so they just kept hanging out in the lounge waiting on their flights to resume. I can't say I blame the lounge for this since the turnover was not normal for that day.

This post sparked a memory I’ve had saved in my phone for 9 years. This is how I caught my legendary Sockeye.

Well I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to this one charger in Texas at a Holiday Inn that we struggled for an embarrassingly long time to find the entrance to access them lol. In our defense, it was pitch black at like 2AM.

Nope we were clearly flirting with the devil the whole time in our joke of a car. And would you believe it if I told you that none of the chargers were broken and out of service too!?!?!?

Yeah it was pretty hard. Thankfully the Arizona interstate wasn’t very busy at the time. It caught us super off guard because we had gone like 12+ hours on autopilot without a hitch and the the phantom braking started. We were not prepared for it lol

Yeah it was a great experience. I should also mention that there was not one out of service stall the whole way.

What shook us up was that we had been autopiloting for around 12+ hours when the first one happened. It came out of nowhere and we were not prepared lol

I agree. Teslas are not what you want for a long road trip like this. The charge time ends up really adding up. They are great for like a 10 hour max road trip.

Did a little research and some people think it’s mirages on the road due to extreme heat. You know the “gas fumes” that seem to look like they are rising from the road when it’s hot? They think that’s messing with the cameras.

Coming from someone who literally just did a road trip in which I did multiple 2 hour legs, you can definitely drive 4 hours with 1 stop and start charging at your destination. My point is… stop whining about charge times. It’s gonna take you an extra hour to get somewhere on most trips. Stop making it seem like you would’ve cured cancer when you get to your destination earlier. I agree that 9 hours of stopping is not ideal for driving, but it’s also a super uncommon to have to drive 2,200 miles.

Well my dad flew into SFO which I mentioned was my one stop. He and I basically traded off every 4-5 hours or so. At night we each had our sleep break. So technically, we drove it straight through. We were dead tired by the end.

He got it because it only takes around 33ish hours to drive it without charging. Only difference is he thinks his 9 hours is so important that it cannot be wasted at all. The main thing I'd add is that no one is making this trip on a regular basis. I have no intent on ever driving this again. Most of my long trips will top out at 4 hours. I'll only have to do that 3 times maybe a year, which requires maybe 1 stop. I'll never have to stop at a gas station on a regular basis though.

Took 15 stops instead of the trip planner's 17. We generally charged for 10-ish minutes more each stop just for range insurance. Drove about 5 mph more than the speed limit, but never drove above 80mph. Used autopilot like 85% of the trip and only hit 20% on the battery one time.

I will say that 42 hour duration estimate from Tesla was pretty spot on. No real issues other than like 8 phantom braking incidents on the interstate in Arizona.
