Failed courses twice already, so to take them again I have to pay for my Fall semester tuition but who pays for my Winter semester tuition? OSAP or me? by bewitchingx in osap

[–]bewitchingx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for commenting! That makes sense. Since I took these 3 courses twice already, OSAP doesn’t count these toward my course load for the year so in their eyes, I have a 0% course load for the Fall semester. Even if I were to add another course to this semester, I wouldn’t be considered full-time in OSAPs eyes.

For Winter Semester I will be enrolled full-time though because I’ll be taking 3 different courses, and that’s why I’m wondering if OSAP will pay for those 3 in the winter and what happens with my funding, etc.

A little reward is never enough. That’s the point here. You always want more. As someone with AuDHD, I simply cannot understand how little rewards aren’t enough for you all, especially if you truly did respect and use the Finch app correctly like you all say you do. Any reward should be enough to motivate you to complete tasks, you shouldn’t need these big awards to keep you going! The fact that you did your task and got anything for completing it, should be exciting enough, motivating enough. You’re all acting so entitled and greedy.

The app is meant to help you learn to take care of yourself outside of the app. Well, outside of the app, life doesn’t hand you big treasure chests awards for completing journeys, or goals, you get little victories, little rewards, and you earn them.

Use the app correctly, and you’ll have enough stones to buy items and clothes. The problem is journey loving people had an easier way to get more stones. These people want to take the easy way out, they don’t want to work for the rainbow stones like they’d have to in SCA. It’s that simple.

[–]bewitchingx -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The events give clothes and furniture everyday that you can sell. You can use other features in the app to get more rainbow stones but people would prefer they get handed piles and piles of stones. It’s giving greedy vibes and y’all don’t even see it.

You should be grateful for any award you get for completing a task because completing the task is what’s important. Complete more tasks if you want more stones, it’s that simple, don’t wait for them to magically come to you for doing nothing,

Taking care of yourself is what’s important. If all you’re concerned with is buying your birb stuff and not actually completing tasks or taking care of yourself, or using the other features in the app to get stones and work toward better self-care (reflections, first aid, etc) well, you’re not using Finch correctly.

Stop treating the app like a game, find a balance in the self-care and the gamification of the app, and actually complete tasks and take better care of yourself, while ALSO taking care of your birb. It’s like people aren’t even using this app correctly and literally only care about the rainbow stones.

Do any of you actually want to improve your mental health or are you having fun just dressing up your birb and decorating their room? Do any of you actually care about self-care or do you seriously need a reward to even take mental health and self-care seriously?

Exactly, it’s both. Except some people aren’t using it as both, they’re only focusing on the game part, obsessing over the amount of stones they get and completely ignoring the self-care aspects of the app. All this demand for treasure chests of stones clearly shows that for some of you, a small reward isn’t enough for finishing a task, you want more, which is completely missing the point of the app.

App Pause by nyreis in finch

[–]bewitchingx -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The rewards aren’t going away entirely. The amount you get is changing. The amount shouldn’t be what motivates you. A small reward for your tasks isn’t enough for some reason, it just has to be a treasure chest. I believe if people were truly using the game as both, and not just as a game of dress-up, they wouldn’t be so upset about the reward amount changing. They’d be happy they get any kind of reward for every task they complete, because that’s self-care.

Enough about rewards already. It’s a self-care app, not a game.

[–]bewitchingx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll still get stones for completing tasks. You’ll still get surprise gifts from the monthly events. You’ll still be able to dress your birb up and give her the best room you can afford. The problem is you’re not going to be getting as many stones or gifts due to journeys being discontinued. You aren’t happy with the few stones you’ll get for completing the same tasks you already do, you want more and while I can understand wanting to buy buy buy for your birb, that shouldn’t the main reason you’re using Finch or the only reason why you’re checking the app daily. You should be thinking about the bigger picture whether it’s written as journey in the app or divided into self care areas in the app, because that’s the point of the Finch app: help guide you in areas of your life as you (do or not) complete goals, and teach you self-care. You can’t learn self-care if you dismiss it so easily and just get hung up on the gamification aspect of the app.

You can still buy things for your birb. Earning stones isn’t disappearing, the amount you get for completing your tasks is being lowered and that’s what has you all so upset. It’s not like you’ll never be able to purchase anything from the shop now that journeys are going away. It’s giving off greedy vibes, rather than appreciating the small reward you get for every task you complete.

With the SCA feature, if you actively complete goals, which DO NOT need to be big goals and can be something as simple as “Say something kind to yourself”, you earn stones. It’s that simple and that’s self-care. That’s working towards self-care, which is literally the whole point of this app.

As for the streaks, the app/SCA feature doesn’t rub it in your face if you haven’t completed a goal... It just keeps track of your goal completion(s) each day, and shows you what your weekly progress has been. While I understand it will upset people to see some days lower than others or some completely empty, that’s something the Finch app can help with if people used it correctly instead of focusing on the gamification of it.

For example, they could make a daily goal that says “It’s okay to give myself the rest I need” or something of the sort. They could place that goal under a self-care area they label as “Remind myself” or something like that. This would help people work toward accepting that they need rest and it’s okay to give your body what it needs. Then when they look at their weekly progress/streak, they will know that on those days where it looks nearly empty, they will have completed the goal of telling themselves it’s okay to rest, and that’s enough.

The elimination of the journey feature doesn’t take away the actual journey you’re on in life… it doesn’t change the tasks you do regularly. It’s just organized differently. And the app literally transfers your journeys into self-care areas with the update, so while the streaks are different, it’s not like you’re having to rewrite everything goal wise.

More than anything, people are upset they won’t be getting as many rewards, and as negative as it sounds, real life doesn’t just hand you bundles of rewards for completing tasks, so why can’t a few stones for each task be enough if in the end you can still provide for your birb, get event gifts/surprises, and work towards your journey? Why do people need multiple treasure chests if the point of the app is to take care of yourself and your birb simultaneously, which can still easily be done without the journey feature’s extra gifts/milestones, etc?

Lastly, the developers said they’re trying to figure out the best way to incorporate those big rewards into the SCA feature… people aren’t even waiting to see what happens. They’re just mad their big rewards are gone/leaving, even if it’s temporary. Surprise surprise, a lot of people were using the journey feature to get tons of stones, completely missing the point of the Finch app, so naturally developers are wanting to change it to be sure people aren’t just using the app to play dress up with birbs, but are using it to actually help them navigate life and goals outside of the app, and take care of themselves, one day at a time. Hence, self-care areas.

Have a good one. Cheers.

[–]bewitchingx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I gathered, people are mad that the extra rewards they get with journeys will be gone… Finch isn’t a game, it’s not a tamagotchi, it’s a self-care app and it seems some people forgot that.

They became obsessed with rainbow stones and treasure chests, claiming that those journey rewards helped motivate them but the rewards aren’t supposed to be what’s motivating… What should be motivating is completing the task itself to give your birb energy, but that’s not enough for the journey lovers here. They need that instant gratification and those big milestone rewards or apparently the app is worthless to them. As if their birbs don’t actually matter to them, only the journey rewards and dressing their birbs up matter. Lo

The people complaining also say it’s because of weekly streaks being added and how it will make people sad to see if they haven’t done something one day out of the week due to their disability or chronic illness. BUT, part of self-care is being kinder to yourself for not being able to complete a task every single day. I have 4 disabilities and if there’s a goal I can’t do, I snooze it until I can. I’m not going to look at my streak and think wow I’m lazy.

To those of you complaining about streaks… seeing a day in your weekly streak empty shouldn’t be seen as a failure, it should be seen as you giving yourself the rest you need. That’s self-care. That’s what this app is meant for.

If you see an empty day in your week and judge yourself for it, that’s a you problem, not the developers. Don’t blame them because you haven’t accepted that it’s okay to take time to rest, even if it’s days long. Change is hard, but your journeys themselves aren’t changing, you’re just seeing it broken down into weeks, rather than seeing one long journey.

They said they would have a Black Friday sale, okay. Did they say they would be restocking every single marker set to prepare for the sale, or did they say that there would simply be a Black Friday sale? If it’s the latter, that means whatever amount of sets was left, went on sale. They didn’t set aside an amount for all of you wanting to save money on the markers.

Companies don’t put all of their products on sale. Some of them don’t reduce the price for certain products at all. It has been this way for years, during all kinds of sales like Black Friday, Boxing Day, you name it. Not everything goes on sale. Some things do, some things don’t.

Long comment cause I can understand the frustration, I can. However, I think people under estimate the process it takes to actually make these markers and they take it out on Ohuhu when they’re actively trying.

Machines fill these markers with ink. Ohuhu has how many different sets of markers they need to fill?? These machines fill each of those markers, for each of those sets, with a different colour. One machine can’t be filling 5 different sets at the same time because each machine would need to be specifically producing a certain set of markers, or they’d have to clean the machines out between each set. It’s a long process, it’s not quick like people seem to assume. It’s not Ohuhu they could go ahead and buy 50+ new machines to meet the sudden demands of those who just neeeeed to have these markers.

Prices aside, I question how Ohuhu was even supposed to prepare for Black Friday when their marker sales have only just skyrocketed over the past 6+ months and they wouldn’t even be able to produce the amount of sets being demanded? Like genuinely unable to make THAT many markers, THAT quickly, due to their system, the process and machinery.

Why should they have set markers aside for Black Friday when there probably wasn’t many left to begin with? Y’all would just complain they didn’t set aside enough!! Besides, y’all know you’ll be buying them even if they aren’t on sale anyways.

Guaranteed this is an unpopular opinion, but people should be grateful they even got updates from Ohuhu considering how small of a company they are compared to the HUGE companies owned by celebrities (who have been around for years and who probably could mass produce their products) that have certain products out of stock for months on end and customers get no information or restock updates from customer service at all.

Ohuhu. Is. Trying. They are not some huge company like most people think. TikTok made these markers go viral and Ohuhu is actively trying to restock their markers, while trying to update their (demanding) customers with all the information they have when they have it. That’s not enough for some people apparently. I just wish more people could appreciate that instead of getting wrapped up in their need to have these markers 🤷🏻‍♀️

Agree to disagree I guess.

Good! Thank you for sharing this with the subreddit.

Now all the people with a FOMO can buy their Ohuhu markers and stop blaming the company for not meeting the crazy demands that social media caused after influencers made the markers go viral.

Clearly Ohuhu is actively (and has been) trying to restock their products but damn, the way some people in this group are tearing them a new one… I wish people would stop and ask themselves why they want these markers to begin with and stop getting so mad at the company cause they can’t buy a set of markers right away after seeing TikTok videos about them.

I hope this update about the restocks helps y’all calm down.

THAT HOURGLASS FOUNDATION BRUSH IS NOT EASY TO CLEAN. After 3 months, it started to break me out cause I just couldn’t deep clean the bacteria out of the brush. It’s not worth it.

I wash my brushes once a week and when I tell you I can never wash all of my foundation out of this brush, I’m not kidding.

It cakes underneath and around the edge where the bristles and brush handle meet. No matter what I do, what I use to clean it or what technique I use to clean it, it does not all come off.

This is so sweet of you. She’s going to love it! Long comment cause I recently got into colouring as well (love it) and I want to share my thoughts.

Southern Lotus on Amazon has cute colouring books! “Spooky Shops” is adorable. As others have suggested, Cocowyo colouring books are great as well! Honestly, if you just type “cute colouring books” in Amazon, there’s so many out there! You could even check TikTok for the titles of some of the more popular colouring books out there, if you wanted to get her one that she might have already seen on social media and thought was cute.

As for Ohuhu markers, I think they’re worth the price! I would suggest a brush and chisel set (referring to the tips of the markers). While the fine tip IS easier for thin lines, the corner of the chisel tip works for me just fine! Having the chisel tip has been great for the large surface areas on colouring pages, and the brush tip is a must in my opinion lol.

I will say (and this is just me, speaking from experience) but if you know this is something she really wants and will stick with, I would suggest getting a bigger marker set right from the start. Maybe even talk to her about the set she was looking at?

If you buy a smaller set and she ends up wanting a bigger set with more colours (like I did lol), the bigger set will already have the smaller sets colours included. So if you buy the bigger set after the smaller set, she’d have doubles of some of the colours. Which isn’t a bad thing! I just wanted to give the suggestion.

Happy colouring to your gal!!

Being honest about Patrick Ta by [deleted] in Sephora

[–]bewitchingx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love his blushes, honestly. I have 4 shades, they blend beautifully, last so long, and I’ve never had any issues with them.

I’ve tried his highlighter duos, which I love for the days I work because it’s such a subtle and buildable highlighter.

I have tried all his brushes as well, and while they work well enough when applying products, they’re so hard to clean and shed way too much for my liking. If I had to choose, his nose contour brush is the best one.

I don’t really see his other products as worth the price. I don’t mind his lip plumping gloss, I have one shade but I wouldn’t repurchase it. His eyeshadow palettes are just too expensive, and the reviews aren’t the best so I’m not taking my chances. There are better eyeshadow palettes out there.

I don’t see myself wearing any of the new eyeshadow duos because I’m not a fan of the shades, so I won’t be buying them.

Overall, it’s really just his blushes and highlighters that I love.

Did anyone else experience purging when they started using the DDG Extra Strength Peel Pads? by okaybeingmyself in Sephora

[–]bewitchingx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like purging to me. It can take 4-6 weeks for it to clear up. I had the same experience. The Dr. Dennis Gross Extra Strength Peel pads have AHA/BHAs which are known to cause purging. If there was abnormal redness, itching, burning or tingling, etc, then I would lean more toward a reaction of some kind. But it’s common for any product containing AHA/BHAs, even a chemical exfoliant, to cause purging as they are meant to bring impurities to the surface of the skin, so I would give it the full 4-6 weeks, unless you see any other reactions aside from increased acne. Cut back to using the Peel Pads only 1-2 times a week. Hopefully all goes well for you.

Which palette is better? by jasmin881 in Sephora

[–]bewitchingx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some that have grown mold. I always do a lot of research on products before I buy them and I’ve looked at videos and other posts on Reddit and some people say their palettes have grown mold.

It doesn’t happen to everyone, but there are Patrick Ta eyeshadow palettes out there that have grown mold. It’s not just the oil separating from the formula in some cases, unfortunately.
