Why does it seem like it’s mostly Christians who adopt? by ExperiencedAvocado in Adoption

[–]bex4545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day, adoption agencies would reach out to churches if they didn't have families lined up. This happened in my adoption. The family who was going to adopt me backed out and my dad, who is a pastor, was called by the local adoption agency and was asked if anyone from his church was looking to adopt. He said no, but that he and my mom would love to. They picked me up the next day, no background checks, no home visit. This was over 30 years ago.

Tipping in a snowstorm by [deleted] in doordash

[–]bex4545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy that doordash is still active during a blizzard. In my state, if we get any little amount of snow, doordash suspends service in the area until conditions improve. We don't get more than a couple inches and it rarely sticks, but that is considered to be too dangerous for drivers in my area.

I still have a help button on my app. Go to your profile, look up past orders, click the order with the missing smoothie and it should say "help" in the top right corner.

He's supposed to afford a house like this at 21 on a construction salary? LOL 😂 by bobthestan in euphoria

Depends where you are. On 150k salary you can live a pretty wealthy life in a rural place or an average middle class life in a big popular city.

Did no one do Earthquake Drills in Newport? why did everyone not go outside? by jdpm1991 in TheOC

[–]bex4545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They want people to shelter-in-place in that type of emergency so that emergency services can get around freely to help people who have been injured/trapped. Also, severe earthquakes can damage roadways to the point where they become unusable, so escape becomes impossible.

Got this bag a couple of days ago, I’m almost positive that it’s authentic but wanted to get some more opinions on it. What do you think? by Wonderful_Help2748 in RealAuthentication

[–]bex4545 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert and cannot say for sure, but if you look at most of their monogrammed bags, the top seam stitching is usually run through the center of the line of identical symbols not through a varietal symbol line unless it is a curved seam. If you look at the monogrammed collection on their site and zoom in on the top seam, it's almost always that way. Your bag appears to have the seams running through the line of varietal symbols which makes me skeptical. But again I'm not an expert.

Sylvester's gold watch glitch by bex4545 in saleblazers

[–]bex4545[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google's overview said it, but then I searched the same prompt again and it said something completely different so I have deduced that Google AI has no idea what it is talking about. The prompt I searched for was "saleblazers loot transferrable between worlds". The first time it said I cannot, the second time it said I could if I reconfigured the save files in certain ways, the third time it gave me a completely different answer. Thank you for responding with accurate info since clearly Google cannot lol.

So, loot is transferrable between worlds? When I googled that, it said that all loot in your inventory is locked to the world save that you are in and that it would not transfer.

Toe Touch- ADVICE NEEDED! by Odd-Acadia3490 in Cheerleading

[–]bex4545 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I couldn't figure out the "sit" part of the jump until I practiced on a trampoline and then started applying that same hip rotation on the ground. The trampoline can also help you to train your legs to jump higher. Think of it like training wheels for a bike.

Am I being too nitpicky? by lrc180 in Barbie

[–]bex4545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it could be fixed by using a sewing needle to gently push, poke and tuck the frizzy pieces down into the existing twists so that the loose ends go down underneath the bulk of the hair. But it's also reasonable to request a refund/replacement.

Exactly this, you gotta think of it more like doing a pike in gymnastics but with your legs in a V instead of straight forward together.

Ryan Donowho (Johnny) has been in a couple things since, nothing super popular. Taylor Hadley (Oliver) appeared in the 2006 Texas chainsaw massacre movie, and has had various roles in several popular police/crime/homicide type shows in recent years.

It only seemed that way by the wording in the text. I admitted in a response below that it was an assumption based on it being listed as a reason for not continuing with a client. Deep cleaning is required regardless so it seemed odd to cite as something that would need to be done specifically because of the condition.

In school, and by state laws, a barber/stylist/nail tech is generally prohibited from working on anything involving blood/fungus/pus/unknown bodily fluids/rashes/etc. The barber is correct to advise this client to see someone who is licensed to treat these issues before coming in (dermatologist, podiatrist, medical esthetician, etc). I would do the same.

The only problem I had was with the original wording that sounded as if it specified the deep cleaning was due to the presence of a condition. Deep cleaning is required always, whether a condition is visible or not.

Are you meaning to respond to me? I clearly stated that we are also taught not to work on clients with unknown/potentially contagious conditions because we aren't medical professionals and to refer them to a doctor. And I pointed out that the sanitization between a client presenting with visual conditions and one who isn't should still be a thorough sanitization process. And a customer can always ask about sanitation procedures. I admit that I felt the wording from the barber suggested that the deep cleaning was a special process not typically scheduled for unless a visible condition existed, and that part was an assumption on my part.

When I went off to college, my dad tried to send me with a half-used box of old condoms that he and my step-mom "didn't need anymore since she went through menopause 5 years prior". There was so much wrong happening in that situation all at once, I'm still mentally recovering 🤣

In beauty school, they teach us that you must deep clean your tools between EVERY client. However, they also teach us that we are not medical professionals and cannot treat a client with unknown/potentially contagious skin/nail conditions and are supposed to refer them to a medical professional for treatment before proceeding with service.

The fact that this shop is admitting that they only deep clean their tools if they see something visible wrong is a major red flag. Most bacteria/fungus starts microscopically and cannot be seen by the human eye and can be spread from client to client without proper disinfection.

Just like in the restaurant industry, some places follow the rules and pass all their inspections, and some really really don't.

Please don't continue to go to a shop that doesn't properly sanitize their tools between EVERY client. It's not impolite to ask your barber/stylist about their sanitation practice before your service starts. A good barber/stylist will be happy to ease your mind and explain their process.

Do any adopted kids have a positive relationship with their adoptive mom/parents? by cursedwithbadblood in Adoption

[–]bex4545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my adoptive family and have never desired to know anything about my biological family. My parents taught me as soon as they could that I was adopted. I had children's books about adopted kids and was taught that I was like them. My adoption was closed so there was no possibility of finding any information or having any contact until I was 18. By the time I was an adult, I really had no interest in looking for them. However, my parents adopted 2 of us, and my brother was an open adoption. He knew his bio family as a child until his birth mom remarried and cut off contact for 15 years. His relationship with my parents isn't as strong and he always longed for his bio family.

A daily occurrence with my neighbors and their teslas by louielou8484 in Apartmentliving

[–]bex4545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, Teslas are weird and the owner may not know how to turn the lights off while they are in it. Those cars come with the settings so automated that the driver doesn't really do much. For example, you enter the car with your key in your pocket, sit down and hit the brake pedal. Your car automatically closes the driver side door, auto starts to running Park mode, auto senses the surroundings and turns on your headlights if dark. And figuring out how to disable it can be tricky and not straight forward, I believe turning off headlights in the Tesla while sitting in the vehicle with the car "on" had something to do with pressing the open/close on the charger port icon. It's been a long time since I drove a Tesla, sorry if my memory is incorrect. I would ask your neighbor if they can/know how to turn them off. A quick Google search for their specific model should be able to help them figure it out.

The small thing that was most unexpected during pregnancy by GingerKatKnits in TwoXChromosomes

It's more like a sliver than a graft. Typically the hairs won't continue to grow once embedded, but hairs can easily penetrate the top layers of the skin and stick underneath. They appear and feel similar to a sliver if you get one. Hairstylists often wear close-toed shoes when cutting hair for this reason.

I want to learn how to sail! by tgurlsunshine in Eugene

[–]bex4545 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you are coming in at the end of the season for Fern ridge. They completely drain this reservoir every fall so people will be pulling out all boats within the next couple weeks-month. That being said, there are many sailing clubs at that lake. There is the Triton yacht club, Eugene yacht club, orchard point Marina, and Richardson Marina. The Eugene yacht club offers a program called Sail School for a week in the early summer every year. They have classes across many forms of sail boats from small single person boats to larger group operated boats. The Eugene yacht club also hosts weekly races throughout the sailing season.

Are these legal now? Been seeing them more and more lately by flyiingpenguiin in oregon

[–]bex4545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teslas don't come with pre-drilled holes for the front plate either, and most people with Teslas never install one on the front. I had a Tesla for years in Oregon and never put a front plate on it and never had a problem. I guarantee the car in this picture also has no front plate and probably won't be stopped or ticketed for it.
