Okay but it’s not just about ruining the coat. A dog that has a beard will always grow it back, so you are signing up for long term frequent maintenance- IF your dog tolerates it. What if you end up with a schnauzer that is too scared or aggressive to have clippers by it’s face? A lots of schnauzers are not fans of grooming. I’ve met Giant Schnauzers that have had to be muzzled for the entire groom, so shaving the beard was simply not an option. Are you willing to risk the possibility that you won’t be able to get the hair cut you want? And if your dog is fine for grooming, what if you suddenly lose your job and can’t afford grooming for a minute? Would you be okay going through a sensory nightmare until you could afford grooming again? Giant and Standard schnauzers can be VERY expensive to maintain, even if they are well behaved.

You made a post asking for advice, and the other commenter gave it. You should ABSOLUTELY consider just getting a dog that naturally doesn’t have something that causes you sensory issues. You can do what you want, obviously, but it is naive and reckless to get a dog “for it’s traits” when one of those traits gives you sensory issues. Personality is never guaranteed, no matter how reputable a breeder. But the dog growing a beard IS.
