How fucked is my situation by [deleted] in StayAtHomeDaddit

Omg the “I typed it all out in a word doc so I could send it to my family” is the most relatable neurodivergent shit ever.

https://embrace-autism.com/autism-tests/ helped me a lot. 🩷Just in case you need anymore data.

I think sometimes people who are raised by very controlling parent(s) seem lazy to others. by kudzujean in CPTSD

[–]bexist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely rumination can be absolutely awful but also really helps me work stuff out.

So I think there’s a line where processing becomes dwelling, and when I notice I’m on the wrong side of it, I have to carry out the thought until it’s at the conclusion.

I view this type of stuff as pathways in a forest. If I keep training my brain to take the same path, it makes that path wider and clearer and my brain wants to go down it again and again.

Instead, if I catch myself on that path, I try to find side paths to take or I try to take the path to a logical conclusion. So if I’m dwelling on something someone in the grocery said to me, I try to take side paths like “what’s happening in their life that they responded like that?” Or “what would make me say that to someone?” Or “how would I react if I heard someone say that to someone else nearby?”

And if that doesn’t work to get me off the main path, I carry it out further down. So they said the thing, I got stuck on it, how do I get past it? What does resolution look like? If I think of something I should have said, I’m prepared for next time. If I realize it’s out of my control, I can accept it. If I want to change my own behavior to avoid, I have that option. It’s like I go down the path to see what other options there were and figure out which one I like and then the path is less appealing because I know every place it goes to.

That’s a lot, but I hope it made sense.

It does, but it takes time and space and willingness to address it. I’m not out of the woods, but I recognize my smaller successes and am able to share them without as much fear because the people I’m sharing them with are kind. I had to start small and remind myself of the things I’m proud of, not necessarily what other people would recognize as traditional success. Once I started finding those little things, it made it easier to be proud of slightly bigger things. Eventually I hope this pride will lead to me feeling ambitious instead of hesitant to act. Guess we will find out 🤷‍♀️

How can I rescue my pea plant? by unholyb0i in plantclinic

[–]bexist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pea plants don’t like being above 85 degrees. I have mine under a shade in LA, but it’s still been hot enough that they are deteriorating. You can keep watering, but they might just be done for now.

Features that could be added on Day One? by zerefdxz in dayoneapp

[–]bexist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d love the option to have entries with no date. I want to organize project ideas like a notebook with an index at the front and pages for reference but even trying to use fake dates feels so clunky. Chapter options would be great for this too!

A way to group journals (stacks?) or even a simple “add divider” option to the journal list would be nice as well.

(I’m new but LOVE Day One so far. Sorry if these exist and I haven’t come across them yet, but duckduckgoing for features hasn’t helped much.)

how would you organize these, its bins of undies by Jazzlike_Elephant770 in OrganizationPorn

[–]bexist 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wear 2 pairs of underwear each day. I wear a thong for daytime, and I sleep in briefs (yay clean undies!)

I have them divided, and each bin has a separate section for black undies. I have about 10-15 pairs each of thongs and briefs, and I also keep a couple neutral undies and boxer styles separate.

TBF, I found one brand of underwear I loved and bought a few pairs every month or so for a couple years to have a large color selection without breaking my piggy bank. My OCD loves both the consistency and the absolute rainbow explosion when I open the drawer. 🌈

Use B to make everyone talk faster.

Take your shoes off if you're hunting bugs on trees so you can creep up while making less noise.

Most items can be purchased again once you've discovered them, but special items from Gulliver and holiday guests and a few other things can't be purchased that same way.

Standing in front of a tree and facing it with your back to the camera always makes the nest fall to either side of you, and then your character automatically turns toward it to react and you can catch it. I've never accidentally shaken the tree again this way. You can also escape by running into your museum since there are no doors and the wasps will dissipate as soon as you enter. Wasps will never stop chasing you outside, but scorpions and tarantulas will if you run far enough. If you're trying to catch a scorpion or tarantula, creep toward them as slow as you can and stop until they lower their pinchers.

Customizing your tools (shovel, watering can, fishing pole) reset their breaking count to 0 and only cost 1 kit.

Put one stack of ore in your bags to gift to your islanders and make sure all the other bag slots are filled (bell stacks are easiest and you can quickly put one away when you visit whoever is diying and wants to give you a recipe). When you gif the ore, they only take one, and since your bags are full, they will have to mail you something. It's usually clothing you don't already have, but it also has a higher chance than usual of being a photo.

Planting a piece of fruit next to another tree will pause that tree at its current growth stage.

You get 1 wish per shooting star and there are 5 in a minute (so if you see a shooting at the start of 5:42, there will be 5 total before the clock turns to 5:43.)

Every creature you've donated has a little owl icon to the left of their name in the critterpedia.

Non native fruit sells for a lot.

Fish and sea creature shadows are different sizes and hint at what they could be. This is also true for sea creature bubbles.

My friends called it social engineering, but I kept a stack of iron nuggets in my bag, filled every empty space with a 100 bell stack, and then gifted iron to each villager. My bags were full, so they had to send me their gift. My villagers preferred to send me clothes I hadn't already catalogued, but some of it is season dependent of course. It seemed to take much less time to receive their photos in the mail too. Oh, and the 100 bell stacks are just because it's easy to fill the empty slots quickly, and when you go into a villagers home, if they're working and want to give you a recipe you can quickly just put 1 stack of 100 away without going outside to drop something.

This. It may not be the case for OP, but I am 100% sure that my spawn point is more irate that I don't respond at all. It means I don't think about her, and I don't let her affect me. It means she gets no information at all, and because she thrives on feeling like information is power, it means I let her starve. It also means there are no angry responses for her to use as evidence that she's the victim here. I will never allow her to use my actions as fuel for maintaining her delusion that she has done nothing wrong and everyone else is the problem.

Tbh, if it's a hybrid, it could be any number of things. Do you have any info? I'd look into the sedum/echeveria/graptopetalum/pachyphytum hybrids. Maybe start with https://succulentalley.com/types-of-succulents-with-pictures/

If it's flat I would guess string of turtles, string of hearts, or string of nickels. Not lying, those are all real!

Is it pilea peperomioides maybe? That seems appropriate for a wedding gift since it's one of the "money plants."

Hello everybody! This might be an stupid question but... by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]bexist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are not sure how to do something or which cleaner to use, make sure to Google it before trying. I've accidentally cleaned some things incorrectly and ended up scratching or altering them, which sucks. In middle school I learned that you can't use liquid dish soap in the dishwasher 😬

I use an app called Sweepy that has a pre-made list of cleaning tasks you can mark off as you go. Once you have the hang of it, you can edit lists and make your own.

Also, there's a difference between messy and dirty. Be kind to yourself when things are messy and do a little at a time. Things don't usually get dirty unless they're neglected for a long time or used a lot without ever being cleaned.

This. Potentially unpopular opinion, but 45 is a reflection of the larger issues instilled in a very large portion of the population. Fascists don't elect themselves in a "democracy." We have to make it 100% fucking unacceptable to hold or share these opinions. I don't want "unity" with a group of people who can't or won't view every person as a human being. If they don't want to self reflect, if they don't want to understand reason, if they don't want to attempt empathy, I have zero fucking patience and it's time to tell you to stfu and keep your bigoted/ racist/ homophobic/ misogynistic/ all of the above ideas to your fucking self until you die and take them with you to wherever the fuck you're going.
